Oh. 86 03 250 has same model number. That's going to be a problem. Side by side, there are differences in the jaws and handles. It's going to be confusing for a while unless distributors differentiate between the two.

Are you sure? The announcement I saw earlier in the month showed different SKUs. The new ones also have a dark finish, allowing for easier differentiation. Where did you see that existing tools are being updated?

Absolute origin sets the "fully closed" value, "zero" is more like the tare when you want to take relative measurements. As far as I am aware, you shouldn't be needing to set the absolute origin frequently. My Mitutoyo's even makes it hard, requiring a pen cap or similar to press in the button...

Yes, but it depends on the application. If it's the choice between using a non-impact 1/2" drive 1" socket on an impact wrench, or via a 1/4" hex to 1/2" drive adapter with a drill, I would probably try the impact first.
