Convert Home Depot's 2-story storage building for Cabin?

Re: Convert Home Depot's 2-story storage blding for Cabin? It seems to me that cooling a storage container would be really hard. Just seems like the metal would be a huge heat sink in the middle of a hot summer?

Convert Home Depot's 2-story storage building for Cabin?

Re: Convert Home Depot's 2-story storage blding for Cabin? I've thought of this a lot. I like the idea. First I need to find some land in NC or VA though. I keep looking but just don't know where exactly I should concentrate my search. Any know good land for sale sites (besides...

Garage organization? Is it worth hiring a company to help?

 First time I think I have ever seen a B&O as a garage radio.

HF 44" tool box packing dimensions question

You can always lay it down. Not an issue for transport. I just picked one up last weekend for $359 and I love it so far. I would suggest unpacking it a bit before you leave to be sure the corners aren't dented in. One on my corners was dented in a bit but didn't affect functionality overall.

Is 32 too old to go to mechanic school?

Do it. If you don't do it now, you'll only get older and then you will be wondering 'What if....' for the rest of your life. I'm hoping to make my break/life change - and I'll be 43! Wish I would have done it 10 years ago.

    awesome garage father/son b-day project

Very cool. My 11 year old son is helping me build a work bench in the garage (metal frame). He wants to learn to weld. I'm still learning myself. But it's nice to see the interest is there. We hope to weld it up this weekend (of course obligatory workbench thread/pics will be coming).

Are you self employed? Would you like go into business for yourself?

Man, I'm struggling with something very similair to this decision right now. I've always been a company man working for someone else. 22 years now. I hate it. I'm burnt out of my field and don't find it interesting anymore. My wife works and has a good job that can easily pay our bills, so...

    Chop Saw Question

Interesting...I found this metal circular saw as well which may be an option: http://www.cpomilwaukee.com/factory-reconditioned-milwaukee-6370-81-8-in-metal-cutting-saw-with-case/milr6370-81,default,pd.html?start=12&cgid=milwaukee-circular-saws&prefn1=voltage&prefv1=120V

    Chop Saw Question

So it's an older Delta 10" mitre saw. The only plastic is the blade guard that swings down/up. Sounds like the RPM speed is too fast versus a true metal chop saw. I'm not looking to use it for a daily metal cutting tool, but was hoping to get away with it once-in-awhile.

    Chop Saw Question

Total rookie here - so rookie question. Chop saw vs Mitre Saw? (I've read that chop saw is such a generic term now) If I wanted to cut metal, could I not just buy a metal cutting disc for my 10" compound mitre saw and use that tool (which I use to cut wood all the time), or is there a...

    OSB heat/flame test

So to resurrect an older thread.... Did you ever do the Sheetrock vs painted-Sheetrock vs painted OSB flame test as you mentioned?

Interior remodel - vapor barrier question!

So, dumb question as I'm dumb to this. What is the point of a plastic barrier before putting drywall up on a GARAGE wall? I get that you need it for an interior living space to keep moisture out, but on a garage wall to the outside, and if the area isn't heated. So, example my garage...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

So for the bottom 44" cabinet, it seems like $359 (with coupon) is the best price going - is that correct, or does it come below that price? My local store is hyping up the ********* friday sale, but I am not an 'inside member', so not sure if that $20 membership fee is worth it since I don't...

Trying Sketchup to redesign my garage

That does seem like a crazy amount of shelves for that space. If you really do need that, consider closing it off to keep it cleaner when you are sanding, cutting, etc. in the garage. I know my shelves get really messy sometimes after a project and I'm glad I don't have that many. I'm in the...

    OSB heat/flame test

Sheetrock is the better bet by far. Then hang up fiberglass blankets by your area if you are really worried.

HOA says "No" to external toolshed. What to do?

OK I've got to ask - what's with all the duplicates of things? Seems you like multiple of everything based on your 15 containers and 15 buckets there - and 3 trimmers, 3 lawn mowers, 5 blowers

HOA says "No" to external toolshed. What to do?

I don't care if it's country or city - has nothing to do with it. It just depends on the area you live in and where you would have to live. In some places that means an HOA.

HOA says "No" to external toolshed. What to do?

HOA rules can change at any time. Just because you sign on the dotted line when you buy the house does not mean new rules won't be passed down the road. And most residents don't give a sh*t about following what the HOA does, so the rules get passed. So all those arguments about why did you...

    school me on chainsaws please

I've had a Poulan for for 8 years now. Never an issue with it. Still starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull. Replaced the bar 1x and the chain about 6 times until I got a file sharpener finally. I've got a lot of trees with it, branches, etc. Even use it in the ground on some roots that were exposed...
