Do you use your vintage tools?

Kind of a mixed usage. A good example is 1/4" ratchets. My grab and go sets have Craftsman that work and I have a lot of spares. My bench has me using an old Easco or Silver Eagle that just feel good. I have an old Williams that I got as a full set for $5.00 but it is just too pristine and...

What you find under the bottom drawer of a used box

Found these under an old Bonney roll around bottom drawer. That certificate expired in August 1954! Bruce

Shop is built, now the wife wants a shower in it, what to do?

Make it big enough to get in there with an engine block maybe a whole car!. Have hookups for a pressure washer. Custom shower curtain with Mustangs or tractors or Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.

    Creative uses for "junk" wheels?

The She-Throne! A wrap of sheet metal around the rim to put stickers on, mobility cart seat, round head bolts for lugs and a fancy cupholder made from leftovers! Bruce

What is it with vises here?

I grew up using a good vise and was happy. Wandered around for a while and landed where I needed a vise and bought a crappy one. Hated it as it wobbled around, bent and had stuff fall off. Finally found a nice Prentiss that felt good. I wanted one for the other side of the shop and got a...

    Blocking an electric meter?

That is a question for your local codes. Mine has rules about how high and access so the employee reading it could physically see it. Now we have changed to remote read meters and, while the code still exists, it is a non-issue.

    East Texas shop begins!

Well they are getting scarce! Big problem is that what you want is so far away! I moan because all the good stuff is in California, Cali folks whine because it is all in Chicago, Chicago folk cry because everything is in Atlanta and Atlanta folk ***** because everything is in Texas! Still...

Bruce goes to a swap meet

Had fun and bought tools too! Bought a tub of stuff with a lot of Williams and other stuff but found 2 brands that I was unfamiliar with. Hexo 15185 highly modified wrench. Good work and it was just today I realized it WAS modified. Has a loop bonded on and a 9/16ths socket welded straight...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Cleaning Up My Shop

I often throw out that stupid cheap bid and sometimes win. I also know the terror of praying for someone to outbid me. The piston was a shocker because I did offer 10% expecting to get brushed off when she quickly agreed and I realized I owned a 250 pound chunk of metal, 15 minutes before I had...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Cleaning Up My Shop

Well, the car deal fell through so no road trip...yet! My brother would talk your ear off about casting stuff. I just mentioned it to him and he was off on a 15 minute tutorial on "Hot molds" "mid pours" 50 different formulas of aluminum and how sand recipes are as varied as dough recipes. Are...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Cleaning Up My Shop

I finally took the time to catch up on your posts. Impressed! Been moving projects myself and have trashed and cleaned the shop a couple of times with no real changes but May is planned for good stuff. My brother got to talking with a fellow in Tulsa about a car and we may be roadtripping that...

    vintage stickered up toolboxes

This was the toolbox that lead me to this forum. I have found replacement stickers or printable images for most of them! If anyone has a lead on that center one, let me know. It has a guy with a big sword and is Dominator or devastator or something. Bruce

I will check! It has been repainted at some point in its life, but I believe it was gray. Looking at the picture I wonder. Bruce
