I have a stupid question on measuring & cutting...

When I need a rip a board to the correct width, sometimes I will sneak up on it which leaves some pretty thin strips - 1/8" or less. I keep these strips and use them as 'story sticks' so there really isn't much measuring involved and it's pretty fool proof

Contractor broke water line... who's liable?

When you repair the damage - do you just touch it up or replace all the drywall on the wall? (see the difference). Didn't the contractor already repair the damage?

    New Age Flooring

Thanks for the response I am talking about these kind of joints that StevieT posted about. I believe my garage slab has cables in it (it's marked do not cut or core) and it has been in place for over 20 years and I don't think it is going anywhere. I googled 'polymer-modified cement...

Threaded rod to exposed floor joist attachment

Had to do some googling to figure out what those are. But, looks to be basically just another name/brand for a 'gimlet rod'? Again, is it preferable to hang something from the very bottom of a joist or are you better off attaching in the middle?

Threaded rod to exposed floor joist attachment

Interesting - never heard of that before. Little hard to find, but Fasternal has them for around $1.50 each, but I would need to buy 25. But, I thought when it comes to joists, you weren't suppose to attach/drill holes on the bottom if possible and it was better to attach something to the...

Threaded rod to exposed floor joist attachment

What is the best way to do this? I am thinking about making a shelf and the front of it will be supported by 3/8" threaded rod attached to the exposed floor joists above. At this point, I am considering use a 'side beam connector' that would get screwed into the center of the joist. At $.97...

Airless paint spraying - Getting small dots on the wall after priming

Sounds like your gun is spitting out something - little lumps of paint or other debris. You definitely should be straining the paint. They make mesh bags for this. You place one in a 5 gallon bucket and then dump in the paint, pull out the bag. (also for 1 gallon cans) example...
