Multiple thermostat failures on newly installed furnace and a/c.

Seems like an easy way to check if the thermostat wiring is suspicious or not is to take it out of the circuit. Mount the thermostat at the air handler and connect with a short piece of new wire. If problems still crop up, it's not the wire running through the wall.

Decent light bulb for Microwave ???

I tried a small number of those bulbs in my previous microwave. First problem is that they are not dimmer rated, so it was a strobe light show whenever the dim setting was used. Second problem is that they just did not last long. I thought I could get ahead by finding dimmer rated bulbs on...

Alarm panel updates after fiber optic conversion

Is this it? https://www.amazon.com/IP-Auto-Alarm-Dialer-Router/dp/B00WF9Q6PW?tag=atomicindus08-20 Looks like it sits there until the alarm siren output turns on.

Project to reuse heat pump condenser fan/motor

I had my Trane HVAC system replaced spring of 2019, and I kept the old blower fan to make a nice and big garage fan. So I put the blower/motor on the shelf and kept moving it around for years, until last summer when I sold it on a garage sale for $10. May had been $5. I don't remember exactly...

    Upgrading to a smart thermostat.

Is the attic system A/C only? Or A/C and heat? How many wires are on each thermostat? Yes, you can combine thermostats, but you'll need a thermostat that has a separate Rc and Rh.

    Aftermarket electric boiler controller

Like everything else on my to-do list, this one bumped down in priority. I’ve been getting by with 3kW of floor heating. Even on days where the temps never got above zero F, I was able to maintain temp. I guess this is what they mean when they say a properly designed system should keep temp...

    Deadband/Differential WiFi Thermostat

Anything WiFi is going to need a constant source of power (C or common wire on the thermostat must be connected). The "learning" thermostats (EcoBee, Nest Learning) have a rechargeable lithium battery. I'm sure they will alert when the battery goes low, but that should only happen when the air...

Off grid (with grid backup) solar system for a garage?

I’m thinking roughly the same idea for my house. Not for solar and energy offset, but more for having a big backup battery. The EG4 6000XP has caught my eye. https://signaturesolar.com/eg4-6000xp-off-grid-inverter-split-phase/

    Generator Transfer Switch Review

You might be able to change the panel you have to one with a main breaker. I assume there are no other spaces in the panel below the meter?

    Generator Transfer Switch Review

All that panel space and it uses double pole twin breakers? I agree with the suggestion of 35Ford to change the panel to a main breaker panel and install a gen interlock kit. As to fuel usage - if you don't use all that much power, it might be worth it to consider both a small backup gen and...

    My Mini-Split Plan

Are you thinking inside or outside? If you put it inside, you really need to keep the area around it clear for access. Sure would come in handy to run additional circuits for anything along that wall, though. Outside you might be able to skip the disconnects altogether if the panel is line...

    Aftermarket electric boiler controller

There is a built in manual reset high limit that I kept in place for the backup/primary contactor, so it currently is not completely unsafe. I just have it setup with a second contactor to energize one out of the two 3kW elements whenever the thermostat calls for heat. Would I even need an...

    Aftermarket electric boiler controller

After about 6 years of reliable use, my Thermolec B-6TMB-U electric boiler has lost its control board. Apparently the D22-B control board is no longer in production. As the electric boiler is used to heat the floor in a 24' x 28' garage with primary bathroom and laundry room above it, I have...

    Wifi Thermostat for Garage

I’m not aware of any WiFi thermostat that does not have programmable times and set points. But, just because it is programmable doesn’t mean you have to set a program. The tricky part is some of them are going to have freeze protection that won’t let it get down to below freezing. Which...

Dual Zone Daikin Mini Split Problems

How are you setting the temps? Directly with the remote or via an app? Maybe the trick is to have some overlap - don't shut off the office completely at night, and drop the temp in the office in the morning while the bedroom is still cooling?

    Is this 12v battery dead?

Looks like you got lucky and caught it before the batteries started leaking all over everything.

help with 240 v, double throw wifi switch

If you want simple (but definitely not cheap), you can buy a contactor in a box and just plug it into your smart plug or remote control of choice. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HMZOUS/?tag=atomicindus08-20

help with 240 v, double throw wifi switch

Is there a receptacle or any other circuit nearby? I'd put in a contactor and run the contactor coil via a smart switch or smart plug.
