What Makes You Think I'd Want THAT Tool?

So my brother forwards this email to me. He says I may be interested. I reply, "What makes you think I'd want that tool?" I like tools as much as the next guy, but I don't think they had me in mind when designing this tool... or the commercial...

    Receiver Hitch Storage

I put mine away as well. I heard from a guy who knew a guy who might have heard it from a local cop who said it's against the law to just leave it on if you're not using it. Something about defeating the purpose of those easily dented but cheap to replace bumper covers.

    Lincoln Handy Mig

Was there paint where you had the work clamp? If so, you have to grind down to bare metal.

For the people who got the HD $50 coupon email but didn't print it

Well that's because most of the time, that is who you're talking to when at the service desk.

This is what I do. Though I wish I'd thought to file a notch to keep it from turning. Thanks!

That would look pretty sweet as a wall clock... just hope it doesn't fall on somebody.

Always-on Arc Welder. Stow stinger for brief moments?

:) shipping isn't too bad, just requires some assembly when all the chunks of concrete get there.

    Everlast welders?

Yep, this has devolved the same way other threads have when simple questions are asked about a new player on the market. 2nd grade name calling and fear. Pretty sure this is the same type of attitude we had towards Japanese electronics, or Korean cars. History repeating itself. All the...

    Free pallets?

There's a local pallet recycler that takes usable wood from broken pallets, and combines them to make a single good pallet. I've picked through their piles, and gotten some good oak ones, $4 each. It's not as good as free, but sometimes you need a pallet now (buyer wants it shipped LTL), and...

    "Good used condition!"

I agree. Same thing for CL ads. Here's the pic from the ebay auction:

    Show your new tool arrivals

Are you using the "spring clamp on trigger to keep it on" trick?

    Work bench top

Nice workbench! Off topic: I like that file handle, was it a simple matter of cutting off the old, welding on the new? On topic: Did you wrap the sheet metal yourself? How did you fasten it to the top?

    Welding table work bench

Nice workbench. I think the vise would be more flexible if you had put it closer to the edge. Basically, with the fixed jaw flush with the workbench top. That would allow you to hold weird shaped objects (imagine a 3 foot tall metal lowercase h), while keeping the center of gravity relatively...

    Z Garage [ 28' x 28' Suburban Detached ]

Great build! I think the best part of this build is the neighbors working together on a garage, instead of fighting about it.

Looks really nice. What did you use for the tabletop?

Always-on Arc Welder. Stow stinger for brief moments?

I usually just put mine on the floor. :( I've heard good things about this though: it's insulated, and made in USA! http://www.plwelder.com/store.php/products/insulated-stinger-v-plw1083

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? My thoughts exactly. I'd be afraid to open up that vise jaw all the way!
