    Deck stain?

Cabot, sickens / PPG, Ben Moore arbor coat All three are premium stains. And just like all the other semi-transparent none are going to superlast too long. That's just the nature of it. Especially if it's in a flat orientation. 3 years service life 5 years max. Probably one to two year of...

    Installing wooden stair treads/risers

Here's a follow up on the stairs. We just completed this basement remodel. Came out really nice. And as said above the retrofit stair treads are 5/8 solid oak thick. So prior to installing the treads you can screw the existing stair treads down make them nice and tight. And then glue and nail...

Thumbs up for Wooster Brush Co.

Wooster are definitely the best. Then purdy and the rest pretty far behind actually. Purdy make great painting accessories but Wooster leads in brushes.

    Vulcan welders at Harbor Freight

I have had my migmax 215 since about 2018 I believe. I know it was pretty shortly after it was released because I purchased it on sale for $549. It has been a fantastic machine.

    2 feet deep brackets?

I built these shelves two feet deep for interior shop storage. And what I did was attach them to the wall studs but included a leg to rest on the floor so it carries the load. This system works pretty well but obviously not adjustable. However, outside I just completed this shelving. I used...

    Contractor wants $10k... need advice

Metal liner and be done. Diy job. Already painted. If you need to change things in the wall you can. I have a liner in my shop. Would not even consider drywall. Same size as your shop.

    Sheathing Question

They both serve the same purpose either is fine. I use both. Sometimes the screws are just quicker. But if you use the hurricane ties those are also good. It will tie all three pieces together. No need to overthink it.

    Sheathing Question

I think your plan sounds fine. Use truss loc lag bolts when attaching your trusses and that will go through both plates and tie the roof frame and wall framing assemblies together. You can always ask the build department what they would like. They should be a resource to get those details...

Building kitchen cabinets/built-in cabinets, what tools do I need?

If you're doing a bunch of cabinets and get that assembly figured out. I would suggest you just order you all of your drawers to be made on the internet. It really isn't very efficient to build them. By the he time you buy the hardwood and the joiner jigs to make them. It's just as easy to have...

    Kobalt Compressor help. (Repaired)

I think you need to watch a YouTube video on how to test capacitors and test those first. Then you can move on to more difficult diagnostic testing on the motor.

Will this Masterforce 60 gal air compressor be OK for running die grinders? Is there a better option around this price range ($575 w/ rebate)?

Vertical integration. I purchased the exact same air compressor around the new year. They had the regular price at $699 with the $200 mail in rebate rebate. So far no complaints I think it's a pretty darn good value for my shop/business.

Load Calculation for Garage Shop with Machinery

Too late but coolcalc.com has a really good manual j calc. With it you can change your wall assemblies to reflect different materials. You can also size individual rooms and air flows. And also orient the building with the direction to make sure you're getting the right heat gain on each room...

Anyone build a mobile mitresaw stand

I built these. They are a modified ron paulk design. I have a Ridgid chop saw stand. It is ok but really terrible compared to these. Having a ultra wide and flat surface is amazing. Plus having a rack on the front minimizes the double handling of trim. I built two so I can handle 16 foot...
