What gives you inspiration to work on your garage/shop?

Putting a thread up here. My small garage is not cool and was terribly overstuffed full of junk. I put a thread up here, show my shame, and tell you all I am going to clean it up. If I don't post updates now and then then I am slacking, I am busy but I am no slacker so I do what I can to clean...

    New Member Tool Box Refurbisb

I don't think so, I did a few smaller drawers with 2 or 3 coats of red and let them cure a few days. Threw a bunch of cruddy old ratchets and sockets in them and shook the hell out of them (scientific testing) and didn't see a single scratch. Rattle can cures pretty hard apparently.

    Addition over partially submerged shed?

Thank you guys, this does look much better I think, I guess since I will be storing wheeled stuff down there it will need to be a ramp still and not stairs, maybe a custom stringer with stairs down the middle 18" or so then flats on the outside or something. Would be a custom bulkhead but not...

    Hour At a Time Garage

Chelation as in electrolysis? I have used electrolysis but at least the top box that I have done so far it was kind of overkill, wasn't too much rust. I hand sanded the drawers and only employed the palm sander to speed up cleaning up the big straight sides of the cabinet. The bigger roller...

    Addition over partially submerged shed?

I have been brainstorming ideas for my backyard. My wife (and I) would like to add an addition to the back of the house off the back living room, maybe 19' x 16' or so. I also really need a shed to get my lawn equipment and some other stuff out of the 2-car garage. We have an empty spot now...

First impact socket set (for DIY) - regular or deep?

If you are doing wheels/lugnuts, and you care about the wheels, this is a good start as well. https://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-drive-sae-metric-lug-nut-impact-sockets-7-pc-69781.html I have these although I use a breaker bar on them, they are rated for impacts and they are very nice.

Owners marks and why they’re a waste of time

Or working in a larger shop where tom, ****, and harry all have the same SO ratchet or IR impact, it easier to tell who's is who's, so to speak. Most all of my grandfathers tools have his name engraved on them, I assumed it was more for easy identification around the shop then for proving...

How much torque do I need in an impact wrench for DIY work?

Right, times that I really "need" an impact over a breaker bar... Taking the big nut off the bottom of my lawn tractor that hold the blades. I can do it with a breaker bar but easier with a impact. Doing some suspension work, some of the control arm bolts and such get pretty tight and it's a...

How much torque do I need in an impact wrench for DIY work?

I'm not answering your questions but questioning it I guess. As a DIY'r as well, I would prioritize having a compressor over having impact wrenches personally. I have both a compressor and (old, air) impact wrenches. I use the compressor A TON more then the impacts for DIY'r around the house...
