    HF twin workbench build

thanks robert. the legs are from global industrial. really reasonably priced, $25 a piece. i think they make legs that are not as deep. if they dont you may be able to lop of the front and back of the top rail as they project beyond the front and back of the legs. i measured mine and...

    Fast Track or Gladiator

i am in the midst of making the same purchase. i am opting for fasttrack. it looks a bit more finished when installed. the new locking hardware is a plus. i think the pricing is pretty close, it was negligible when i figured out my costs. i think the fastrack has a stronger rail. most of...

    HF twin workbench build

thanks guys! the top is only fastened to the legs. like steevo and jeepsrbetter, this allows the boxes to remain free of any torture the top takes. great craftsmanship on your build as well jeepsrbetter.

    HF twin workbench build

ultimately i choose the 44" box, one more on the way. the legs are from global industrial, with a built in outlet option on one of the legs (outlet has 2 receptacles in front of the leg and 2 in the back of the leg). 30" depth, adjustable to 36" high. i doubled up 3/4 mdf for the top and...

HF 44" twin workbench idea, with adjustable legs

awesome 67carl, thanks. i purchased 2 different sets of casters, both 3" with 2xx pound capacities, one set from HF the other from lowes. the set from lowes is offset a bit more so the height is only 3.5" tall instead of 4" tall, the footprint of the lowes caster is more like that of the...

HF 44" twin workbench idea, with adjustable legs

did you have any weight capacity issues with 2", 150 pound caster versus 5", 300 pound casters. did you utilize the same mounting holes and hardware? did you keep two fixed and two swiveled? thanks again!!

    wilton universal turret vise

do any of you guys use one of these. 4" metal working jaws and 7" wood working jaws. the vise head rotates 360 degrees so the angle is unlimited. trying to decide if i should mount this or a regular vise on a newly constructed workbench.

    Large drywall patch question

dont forget, when you get done sanding and its "perfectly" smooth dont just slap some paint on it. the rest of the wall has 2 or 3 coats of paint and texture to match. if you just paint it the patch will stick out like a sore thumb. pick up a good quality primer, ben moore fresh start for...

HF 44" twin workbench idea, with adjustable legs

i like this idea for the bottom, just like steevos bench. i am sure i can source some adjustable feet that will bolt right onto these legs. this is a winner too! thanks.

HF 44" twin workbench idea, with adjustable legs

How can I seal these two buildings together?

you could also fabricate a false wall out of flashing against the old building walls. run it right up to the eves or soffet on the old building. if it runs up and meets the eves or soffets you will not need to be that precise with matching the contour of the old walls.

    Tips & Tricks

Re: Tips & Tricks totally un-shop related, but my wife carries a pair of scissors with her. she uses them cut my 7 and 5 year olds meals. much more efficient than a knife and fork, quite entertaining as well.

thanks in advance for any input. i need to remove the center light fixture and electrical box for it. this is the center of 3 pendants that hang above my bench. the ceiling is sheetrocked, so i am imagining i have to remove the center pendant and box, run new wire from box 1 to box 3. i am...
