    Tool truck jackets

It is a bit early for the jacket deals Most of the dealers I have had, it was like a 13 week deal. Raise your payment $5 and don't miss one. The thirteen weeks catch thanksgiving, Christmas and new years. There will always be days missed due to the holidays and what days they fall on. Usually...

Contractor broke water line... who's liable?

If the contractor fixed it I think that is all you are entitled to. There are so many different instances that damaging a portion of a system, does not mean the whole system needs replaced. By the posts in this thread, some say you are on the hook and some say the contractor is. The one thing...

Contractor broke water line... who's liable?

Threads like these are interesting to read. So the OP contractor hit his water line, and he patched it. What more is he expected to do. The OP had running water before, and has running water after. Who is telling you that you have to replace the whole length of the line? Honestly that is...

    Hub shocker/Astro puller: 0 rust:1

Have both set ups. Since I bought the shocker I use it. I can not think of one that did not come off using it.

    No more snap-on for me

I think you are partially correct. But at which point does the guy starting out decide he has the aptitude to become a higher level guy and start buying better tools? The one thing that has not been mentioned is much of what you are buying off the truck is payment availability. Earn while you...

    No more snap-on for me

These SO threads really are fun to read. Anyone should buy tools that make them happy, are useful to them, and get the job done. What ever that brand is, good for you. Personally I buy mostly SO off the truck. I get some at auctions and other sales. I have many business relationships, and the...

    Building a patio roof

If the OP is wanting it for just shade, there are many shade types of products available. Many are just robust type of tarp material, that is stretched and mounted by steel cable. Others are similar to an awning on an RV that mounts on the house and sort of rolls out. Many of these even have...

4' Florescent to LED-best long lasting bulb and leave/remove ballast?

I have about 12 four foot, four light fixtures in my garage. I went to menards a few years ago to buy a couple of ballasts and they had the LED tubes.. If I recall a two pack of them was much less than a ballast. I bought a couple of packs to change over a fixture. The light was so much better...

Sump pump pit and radon mitigation

I agree with the poster that mentioned physics. Hold a candle near the pit and see what the air is actually doing. We do not have a radon set up, but I have felt the same thing sort of when I lift the lid to our sump pump. Just have sort of figured it was the differences in temperature and...

    Large funnel

OP might check fuel funnels for race cars. I would bet you could cut the neck out to a large size. Most I have seen are d shape and a foot or so large. Pit guys pour from the big fuel containers that are about 3 inches into them.

Can a humidifier be piped into radon PVC mitigation pipe?

I think it is pretty common around here to use the same piping for both uses. As I was reading the responses I was think just that. Whether the OP has a sump system or not, wouldn't the radon piping sort of act as laterals for a sump pump. Any system that would require perforated pipe under a...

    Storage Containers & your ordinances

Not sure what the exact ordinance is they fall under here. I have seen them go up on outside storage container on the zoning board of adjustment. Most are approved, but for cases like above. usually as storage is needed for a construction project. I can not say I have ever seen one on the...

    How update SnapOn Solus Edge?

The OP mentions the school shop. I would look at getting hold of an industrial rep from SO. I would guess the have them in Canada. I have never seen a upgrade done other than from a dealer. If you can buy on the industrial side, prices maybe way better than you would think.

What's up with horizontal wall studs? How to hang stuff?

I can not even imagine bringing a thread up that is ten years. What is the use to even respond. I get it if one has ended up there in a search of some sort. I still would not know why you would comment. There have been several threads show up currently that are years old.

    Frozen PCV valve

Most building back up generators around here run an hour a week. If it is liquid cooled, you might be able to install some kind of coolant flow around the components in question. Something as simple as soft copper if you could figure out a way for it to flow.

    Texas freeze

You might be forgetting. The whole midwest suffered a land hurricane last august. It was called a derachio. Hundred plus MPH winds a couple of hundred miles wide and traveled from western Iowa to mid ohio. It *****, but people will deal with it. There will be investigations about it, then...

Can the city decide they're going to take over a private dirt road?

There is a lot going on here, and I find it odd that one neighbor seems to know way more than the rest about it. I agree much with what many have said. Why would a county or city want your road. Just the cost of maintaining it is usually enough for them to not want it. I was going to post what...

How do you repair and air hose?

I have switched over to the Flexilla hoses. They do not like sparks or hot material at all. I use just the barb fitting and a pex 1/2 crimp. I do have a cheap set of pex crimpers. I have done several and it works out well. Very tight fitting when done.

Best Fix for Poorly Installed Wall Blocking?

If you want them flat, I would say it depends how much work you want to do. The worst ones I would just knock out, if they are not fastening to the outside wall in any way. Some you could likely get by with just an aggressive belt on a belt sander. I would guess you are wanting to go all the...

    Ugg merry Floodmas!

We live not far from a river. When the river gets high, our water table goes up and we get water into the sump. We added on and included a full size basement in the new part, about 20 years ago. The old part of the house still has the duck under everything type of basement under it. About 15...
