Protecting a Hardwood Floor from Office Chair Casters

I switched to the same wheels in clear: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G643EU6/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Make sure you are fully "in" the chair before sitting. I haven't had the chair squirt out, but it moves very easily.

Home in FL....Dehumidifier in the garage?

If you install an AC unit, it will dehumidify. I don't see a benefit to a stand-alone dehumidifier in the Summer. When it's hot, if you don't have AC, you'll have to open up the garage. If you open it, a dehumidifier won't be able to keep up. There might be value in running one in the Winter...

    Are "Ufer" grounds required

Adding an UFER ground was by far one of the easiest parts of laying out rebar in my foundation. I'm not an electrician, but I think there's something in the code about the UFER connection being accessible. I'm doing surface mount, so mine is coming up just outside of the wall. If this is indeed...

How to zone led light banks in a garage work shop with motion sensors?

In my old garage I had a couple of low profile led lights above the garage door. It was a temporary setup to see if I liked the placement. I used a motion sensor to control the lights. The issue I had was with detail work. The spot where I tended to do that small detailed work led to a body...

"Big Box" store Lumber vs. Lumber Yard

I guess I'm an outlier. I purchased almost all of the lumber for my build from a local lumber yard. They came in 12% less across the board vs Lowes or Home Depot. They also had all of the board sizes I needed and even deliver for free over a certain dollar amount, which I hit on all but one...

    Where to start?

Here's how I did it: 1. There is place that builds workshops near me. I found their pricing for a "standard" build, and used it as a rough (ROUGH) estimate to determine if a workshop was even feasible. 2. I sketched out a rough idea of what I wanted, adding a little size from the pricing...

I looked at a 44x56x16 building - It seemed small

Mine is 44x50x18 (at the peak), and it looks big when I think about size while I'm out there. I've heard that it will feel bigger once the siding is in place. Walk corner-to-corner as if you have forgotten a tool, and you'll get a true sense of scale.

Machine to dig 12" wide trench

For me, the mini excavator wasn't really fun. It was a cool experience, but not what I'd call enjoyable. The skid steer, on the other hand... :D

Machine to dig 12" wide trench

I had to do some site work with a mini excavator, so I dug 100' of trench while I had it (vs. renting a trencher). There was a bit of a learning curve, but I had it pretty much down after the site work. That said, for a foundation, where accuracy matters much more than a trench for some...

6 Months out - What do I need to Buy???

Suggestions depend on build style, finishing materials, how much and which of the work you are going to do, etc. Things that I've used WAY more than I thought I would are: - Impact drivers with hex bits for sheet metal screws. I dropped one driver and killed it and have bought two more since...

FREE BendPak lift – we’re giving it away

Here's the thing... I recently moved into a new neighborhood. To say it's a really cool place would be a major understatement. Sometimes I feel like I'm on the top of the world. Other times... well, it's not without challenges. The new neighbors really dislike my husky, Jed. He's very quiet...
