    Conduit size /wire fill?

If heat tape is neaded in the well house, having access to 120 volts can avoid special order for 240 volt tape.

Alarm system for Remote, Unconnected shop?

Residio aka Ademco aka Honeywell makes decent panels. Something like Vista 20p adequate for a small structure. And if cell service available at your location you could always add a cell communicator later.

Concrete pad wrong, what to do?

This is a key point. If building wood stick frame it might be practical to saw cut away the edge as needed and then install a perimeter footing. But with a steel building, you likely need a foundation that can resist significant lateral loads and wind uplift loads - any retrofit footing may...

    Luminary cable connectors?

I forgot to mention: the only design flaw re: the raco connectors is that they cant be removed and reinstalled like Wago connectors. I dont know if there is another brand that allows the splice to be opened without destroying the connector.

    Luminary cable connectors?

I used these: https://www.hubbell.com/raco/en/Products/Electrical-Electronic/WireCableHose-Management/Wire-Connectors/Shield-IT-3-Wire-6-Port-Cable-Connector-for-MC-PCS-4-Jars/p/3898471 Allows dimmer wire spices to be in same box as 120 volt conductors. The other option that my AHJ was ok with...

    Are these hurricane ties?

That doesnt look like it would be good for any significant snow or wind load. If your whole attic is done that way you should have a local engineer familiar with snow and wind loads in your area take a look at it and design a repair.

Why are they switching to galvanized steel buildings

I was told calcium in milk can bind with the zinc to reduce how much INGESTED zinc is absorbed in the stomach and intestines. I don’t think milk helps when you inhale zinc fumes. BTW, the first sign of inhaling too much zinc is that everything tastes really tangy. If you taste that while...

Grinding rusted hydraulic rod, grinding methods - JB weld as filler material?

Mechanical engineer and heavy equipment aficionado recommended this stuff to me for deep scratches and pits on hydraulic cylinder rods: https://www.belzona.com/en/products/1000/1121.aspx Fortunately my scratched cylinders had relatively shallow scratches so I have no personal experience with...

Multiple wire pulls thru same conduit?

My experience in CA is that AHJ doesn’t check anything if work done by licensed electrician. But if work done by homeowner they will spend some time and try to find a gotcha such as failing to derate conductors.

Multiple wire pulls thru same conduit?

No problem with adding another sub. Just be sure to run a 4 wire circuit and keep neutral isolated from ground in the sub.

Multiple wire pulls thru same conduit?

You need to upsize the 14 ga conductors (not good for 20A circuits) so your fill will be a bit more than what you calculated. Anyway, it is always a bit more difficult to pull extra wires later after your original pulling lube has dried out. One possibly cost effective option would be to put a...

You dont want beach sand because it is salty. Even "washed" beach sand can be problematic.

    Library Bureau Solemakers shop cart

Anyone ever see a cart like this? Very heavy undercarriage and casters. The part I can’t figure out is the remains of hardware that looks like a roll top door - except the hardware is upside down. Unclear how the bottom shelf could be used with a door like that.

    weaver lift anchor bolt size

Unless you are sure your lift comes from a different weaver lift company, try going to https://www.derekweaver.com/contact-us/, get the phone number, and give them a call to see if you can get installation instructions for your model lift.

    Water hydrant locations?

If you plan larger than garden hose sized hydrants you should call your local fire department. They have rules on placement (minimum distance from structures, etc) and will specify what diameter and thread type you need. My understanding is that 2-1/2" NST works in most of the US but there are...

apologies for another thread on ufers and feeders...

My inspector said that any "DB" stamped ground clamp is good for concrete encased, but I never saw any reference that said a listing for direct burial is directly transferable to concrete-encased applications. Is there in fact a separate listing requirement for buried in poured concrete?

apologies for another thread on ufers and feeders...

In my area the connection to the rebar doesn’t need to remain accessible. It just has to be made with a properly rated clamp and needs to be inspected before the concrete is placed. I never understood the exposed connection requirement. Sure, you can verify that the copper cable goes to a...

Generators - NG vs Gasoline vs Diesel running cost

If red diesel is available in your area it is a lot cheaper than highway diesel. The only downside is that unless you have enough protracted power outages to frequently burn through a tank of fuel (like California), it isn't legal to put the red diesel into a highway vehicle as a means of...

    Thoughts on slab moisture issue

I agree with rdenney that the slab may not yet have dried out. If it went in last October and you have had high humidity and relatively cool temps in the garage since then, the slab would still be holding some moisture. This is why new concrete still forms new shrinkage cracks even a year...
