    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Yeah I’m just tossing rockwool into the walls. The installer said they can spray in Feb and they’ll still warranty their work so I think I’ll let them take a swing at it.

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Just priced it out and I think I'd get stuck with 3 kits to get 3" depth which would make DiY about $450 cheaper. I do think my project is small enough that I'm getting gouged some for them to just show up.

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Yeah that's valid, I'm planning on being in this house for a long long time so hopefully an inspection is never an issue, but who knows. Hopefully less of a concern from buyers since it's a detached structure. My roof is framed with 2x4s so the closed cell requiring less space is a nice perk...

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

makes sense, I'm planning to pay someone to do the ceiling either way. But I'm now sitting here looking at a couple of spray foam quotes that are both around $5/sqft for 3 inches at a claimed R21 vs $3/sqft for batts and baffles and I have to figure out my gables. Closed Cell is basically a $900...

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

yeah SW Pennsylvania so we get some fun temperature swings. I agree on the PITA factor, I don't have a huge desire to be dealing with fiberglass over my head on an 8ft ladder. traditional batt in the walls is the route I'm going for sure. There is a vapor barrier under the slab, in the end I'm...

only in the case of spray foam or for batt insulation as well?

They are not, if I do baffles I'll need to vent the soffits. I definitely should have thought through ceiling insulation more when building.

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Yeah not sure on the radiant barrier, to be honest I moved quickly on the structure because the price was about 1/2 what I was expecting. Seems solid so far. The floor is a 5" concrete pad and the walls have a thin foam strip beneath them, but I should probably think about making sure they're...

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Hi all I've finally got electric going in next week and a 12k btu mitsubishi mini split a couple of weeks later in my 14x24. I've let scope creep get away from me a bit, initially it was built with a ridge vent and I was going to use baffles and batts to insulate some, but with the mini split I...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT My dream suburban 1-car

Door is in and the boat fits! It's extremely tight width wise through the door with the wheels, but it should be doable. Hopefully finding an electrician this week, but I also bought an engagement ring so I'm broke for a bit.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT My dream suburban 1-car

I'm a little worried about it, total height on the garage to the roof point will be 12ft and the deck railing is 13ft from the ground. The kitchen is off of the deck, but we've got some mega windows off of the living room that will still be unimpeded. The basement will lose it's natural light...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT My dream suburban 1-car

To keep it short my partner and I found basically a dream home, still sort of close to town for friends and family with a backyard that is a cliff down to a small stream and a 70 mile long rail trail. The house had a modest 2 car garage 20' wide 21' deep and I wanted to build a 1 car stall to...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT Anyone out there with a small 2 car garage?

Well I pulled the trigger on the house and am in the process of moving in. I agree with everyone that I won't be doing any work with 2 cars in the garage. I'm also looking at downsizing the range rover to a wrangler since I'm not commuting anymore which should help space wise.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT Anyone out there with a small 2 car garage?

Dang I kept reading this thread and failing to reply. I do have a decent amount of tools and such, but luckily I live alone so I'm going to turn a bedroom that is right off of the garage into a bicycle / tool room which I hope will help. I'm glad to see a few folks make it work at least for 1...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT Anyone out there with a small 2 car garage?

So I'm moving again and back to Pittsburgh. Since I'll be working from home I wanted to live at least sort of downtown. I'm considering putting in an offer on a townhome with a 17'4" wide 18'6" deep garage with 7'6" ceilings. At least for now I'll be parking a C7 corvette and L494 Range Rover...

    Slomaro's detached 22x34

Picked up some dollies for the camaro and I'm now able to get all the cars into the garage, thankfully right before we got hit with an ice storm:

    Slomaro's detached 22x34

Hey all, I've mostly been lurking for the last year. I moved from Iowa and my small 2 car (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330489) to Michigan and an even smaller 17.5'x17.5' 2 car April of 2018. It ***** not having the space to tinker, so I closed on a house last month...
