    Fireball Compact Hardtail Vise

In reality I've just moved too much. My workbench for a long time has been a folding plastic table. It's never been ideal so I'm over the moon to have a small space to do my thing. Appreciate this, every time I search vise on marketplace it's a bit overwhelming.

    Prepping for garage HVAC

Interested in this as well, my door is I think the same design. I was told it's "insulated" but I think that means like a half inch of styrofoam or something. When I measured up to the ridges I think I can only fit 1.5" foam board in mine. Don't ask about the snow in the corner :ROFLMAO:

    Fireball Compact Hardtail Vise

I'll have to add them to my notifications for FB marketplace. Seems like folks around Pittsburgh are asking a premium for old vises that are at least in decent shape. I dig the look of the wilton bullet, but I'm not sure that warrants a premium. Seems similar in my area. Lots of cracks on old...

    Fireball Compact Hardtail Vise

I'm Vise shopping and the 6.5" compact hardtail from Fireball is on my radar, seems like a decent price compared to Wilton and some other new offerings. That being said I'm thinking it might just be too much vise for my workbench (8'x2' made of hemlock and pictured below). Any thoughts? Should I...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT My dream suburban 1-car

If my OSB cuts were any indication that I’m not a carpenter I’m certainly not. Found a guy on FB marketplace who builds workbenches and just dropped off this 8ft made of hemlock. Much nicer than what I planned to build with OSB scraps!

Mini split install got pushed back to next week thanks to the cold, but I finally had to dig out the garage door this morning. I think this snow is sticking around for a while.

Fair callout, most panels are 1/4 inch off the floor, but the panels around the door are definitely not. I'm optimistic that running a mini split 24/7 will handle a lot of my moisture concerns, but worst case I'll be putting miles on my oscillating tool

Got hacky trying to insulate the man door this evening. I ran a rubber sweeper seal around all the sides and filled the cavity with rockwool that was too thick and tried to cover it up with some osb scraps I had. Definitely need to cut a singular piece and fix my switch hole, but the immediate...

Well hyper fixated and knocked out the walls after work. Going to be honest I don’t think the Walmart clamps helped my already questionable ability to draw straight lines. Happy regardless! R15 rockwool in the walls, 3 inches of closed cell in the ceiling covered in dc315. I still need to slap...

Foam is in and I’m making progress on the osb. Definitely going to have to redo an outlet or 2

Any thoughts on sealing these gaps before spray foam? I was thinking either caulk or low expansion foam.

I adjusted to stagger the seams some but got all the walls insulated and vapor barriers up. Just waiting on spray foam and my mini split

time to start on some insulation and walls, turns out a G wagon will hold about 4 bags of batts. Going with R15 rockwool and 1/2" OSB all around. Sounds like it needs to warm up a little bit before we can spray foam the ceiling.

Electrician made it out and I is coming back. They still need to fill the garage panel, pop receptacles in and connect to the house panel, but everything is ran at least so I can start insulating Monday. Wound up with a 100amp panel (will be run with a 70amp main breaker) for: -2 switched...

Garage Addition - Teardown and New Build - Cost Estimating?

I'd say just go get quotes, you aren't wasting any time, but like others have said pricing can be all over the place. If you're patient I don't think you really need a GC, but you'll have to put in leg work finding contractors. And definitely get many quotes, my most egregious quote difference...

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Siding is already on so I figured caulking thank you! Ain't that the truth! End of the day I got 3 quotes for foam in the ceiling and they were all in the same range so I'm just going with the good reviews and the guy I liked.

    Insulating small 14x24 shop

Does anyone have any pro-tips for air sealing the 2 2x4s that are where the wall sections join together? I'm thinking either a polyurethane caulk or low expansion foam, but it's going to go behind OSB so I just want to make sure.

It's 14ft wide so I'd say yes except for pulling an axle shaft out of a solid axle. I was constrained on space due to a drainage easement, but honestly my last garage was in the city and even tighter. I'm currently refreshing my 2017 G63...

She said yes which is delightful even if it did push back my shop plans :ROFLMAO: Christmas eve I got the conduit in place for power and my yard is a mud pit....which my dog loves. Coming up in the next 1.5 months I've got deposits and schedules for Electric panel and outlets 12k Mitsubishi...
