This thread is relevent to my interests. I installed a high dollar fujitsu system on one side of my house. I plan on imstalling one more on the other side of the house in a few weeks. I’m STRONGLY considering cheaping out and getting a pioneer two head unit. The wall i’ll be installing the...

    Pressing bearings help please

I stand corrected on the temps. And appreciate the heads up. Good to know moving forward. Thanks Edited to add below, still good to know. I’d still keep it below boiling, like pccustoms says. Per SKF website. Mounting bearings using heat The force needed to mount a bearing increases...

    Pressing bearings help please

Agreed with others. Freeze the shafts. You can buy 20 or so lbs of dry ice if you really want to bring the temps down. Use large coolers, dry ice below and above the shafts. Then heat the bearings in an oven. I’d go higher than 150. Water boiling is 100°C. I would go as high as boiling water...

wood stove fire won't start on windy day

22George, I was rereading this thread this morning, and wanted to chime in. You have no problem with a fire when wind is coming from basically all but one direction. To me this means you have somemkind of wind effect around your building before the wind meets your chimney, on those days when...

My TriangleTube Boiler Blew Up..yes Blew Up!!!

I have a National US boiler for my hot water baseboard for my 1450 sq ft raised ranch built in 1971. It runs perfectly. I won’t replace it till it dies. Upon further review online, National US, a division of Crane Co out of NY, NY stopped HVAC production in 1968 and sold off to Amana. Is my...

wood stove fire won't start on windy day

I have a raised ranch which faces north, so trade winds run parallel to the house. On occasion, when i go to start a fire in my Jotul c450, i can feel outside cold air sweeping down the chimney and filling the stove. The fix to start a good draft for me is to crack the sliding door 3”, and...

    Modine Heater Problem

Get yourself one of those outside air kits for each heater. It draws cold air for combustion in and exhausts out the same opening. Tube within a tube. Not cheap but who cares if it will fix your problem.

    Drift Trike

You might need to WAY lower that seat height dude.. you want low, or you'll turn over rather than drift. You want the seat down on top of the rear axle. LOW.

    Drift Trike

First just wanna say how awesome this build is. I just turned 40 in september, but still feel like an 18 year old. I have been wanting to do one of these for a long time. I have the garage and tools for it, just lack time right now. Maybe next winter. I look forward to your completion. Sounds...

    Dump Trailer Tailgate Modification

Cool project. Only, are you designing your hinges to allow the doors to open all the way to the fenders? Cause, you wont be able to dump all the way without the doors bottoming out if the doors arent open at least 180° from closed. Make sure they open all the way out, then you can fab up a...

Fluid Film - What attachments and where to spray?

So i just bought a new tundra. I have 800 miles on it. I like the deal on amazon. Now, where exactly do i spray this stuff on my pickup? Do i spray inside the frame? Exterior of frame? Etc? Also, at what temperature does fluid film begin to melt or sloughs off? Seems like a lot of work for...

    Window unit just quit....questions....

Window units DEFINATELY have starter caps and i bet all the money in your wallet that the problem is in fact your starter cap. Get into the unit, find capacitor, search online for replacement, purchase, install and enjoy! Btw, the caps are like $11 online and VERY common. Google "starter...

insulation and heat install by a novice

Dang, all that typing for nothing. I went back and see your ibeam wood rafters. I would get the thickest pink insulation i could find, the appropriate width between the rafters, and just push the insulation in place. If you have to, double up, so if you are placing r19 for 16" spacing, and the...

insulation and heat install by a novice

I dont know what code is in your area, but i have never seen anyone tape at seams for vapor barrier. Mainly because it is labor intensive. However, since this is your house, treat it as such. Tape away until you run out of tape, then tape some more. It cant hurt. Typically i have personally only...
