Can I use old diesel in my oil tank furnace?

Personally, as long as it’s not mixed with water, or heavily infested with algae, yes, i’d use it for heating oil. I’d try to mix it 50/50 with clean diesel/oil. How much we talkin?

how many BTUs to heat 2 door garage?

Wait. The man just said that a 24k btu kerosene heater “which doesn’t do much to keep it warm”. And you are saying it should be plenty? The guy just said otherwise. My guess is that if a 24k btu heater doesn’t do much, than doubling it would do better. Heaters for garages like Modine heaters...

    Concrete or plastic pad

How i did mine on one side, the other mini on the other side of the house that does the bedrooms is hung on the house due to a sidewalk. I just dug down a solid 6’’ and put down pea gravel. Good drainage makes for no heaves. That pad has gone thru 3 upstate NY winters and looks exactly like that...

Hanging Furnace with finished vaulted ceiling

Awesome garage. Super jelly. I see no problem using unisrut and threaded rod. The pitch is very soft. I’m sure you can find where your trusses are. Lag the unistrut perpendicular to the trusses, use spring nuts and threaded rod of various lengths to level the heater, and bolt the heater to the...

Hanging Furnace with finished vaulted ceiling

Mount two unistruts perpendicular to your trusses which are 24” on center. Hang threaded rod from the unistrut, one on each end for a total of four points, and hang the heater from the threaded rod. Or bolt the heater right to the unistrut. Depends how low off the ceiling you want the heater...

Currently have oil for heating, thinking about switching

My girlfriends last house had oil heat with hot steam radiators. Her sister and brother in law have a similar set up as well. After that house, I vowed to NEVER own a home with oil heat. Dirty, loud, smelly, occasional expensive breakdowns, required yearly maintenance, and oil is expensive...

My hot water heater is now 27 years old. Yes, natural gas water heater, ServiceStar band, 40 gal, 27 years old. Barring a major change...

MRcool DIY 18k or 24k to offset opening door

Like JP said, you REALLY should finish the ceiling and then see how the 14k does. Honestly even if you did finish the ceiling off, i would STILL suggest the 24k. Inverter minisplits can power down to 25% of max easily. So it can throttle down close to 6k easily. The cost between 18k and 24kbtu...

    heat pump shielding ?

Metlmuncher, i think you flew off the handle a touch. Just saying. It’s quite common for a/c units in the southwest to be shielded from the sun by way of awnings, shrubbery, or some type of shade maker. I quote from online: At the upper reaches of our atmosphere, the energy density of...

    Which mini split to buy?

Im a firm believer in Pioneer, now that i installed one 3 weeks ago.
