Anyone have experience with these low cost MiniSplits

You have to draw a line somewhere. And with these completely no name brands, with odd seer ratings, and hidden undiscussed specs, etc, it’s just not worth trying to me. I suggest you stick with excellent budget splits like Pioneer. No reason to go “bottom of the barrel”.

My Pioneer Ductless Minisplit install is complete.

I found NO difference in quality between the premium Fujitsu system i installed vs the Pioneer. Maybe there are some electrical differences i’m not aware of, but with respects to EVERYTHING else, i found NO differences. I would feel 100% comfortable installing and/or recommending the Pioneer...

My Pioneer Ductless Minisplit install is complete.

EXCELLENT question. I forgot to mention this. One of the heads came pressurized. I didn’t know it and when removing the caps on my ladder outside, i was QUITE SURPRISED when the gas blew the cap off out of my hand. They one unit must have been pressurized ro at least 200 psi. Happy to say i...

COLD AS ICE! So happy i went with Pioneer. Can’t thank the folks here at GJ enough that spent the time to document their installs for us all! I would have NEVER EVER thought i could handle the install of these. Now that i’ve installed two of these systems, i feel like its cake and can’t believe...

My Pioneer Ductless Minisplit install is complete.

Purging allows a faster draw down and a positive hold under 500 microns for any appropriate period of testing time. Some installers hold for 15 min and let the freon go. The idea is, if its gonna leak, yer gonna see it rise at least some in 15 min. Others are **** and hold under 500 mics for a...

My Pioneer Ductless Minisplit install is complete.

What ever highseer sells. The wire i purchased from ecomfort laat year was definately SO wire. This from highseer is almost SO wire. Not quite as rubbery outer coating. I’m sure you can purchase it ANYWHERE, altho highseer was remarkably affordable per foot compared to homedepot when i priced...

    Pioneer size recommendations?

Completely agree, based on your square footage alone and your non insulated doors.

Minnesota and AC, not the oxymoron you'd think it is

Have you considered ductless minisplits? I have a recent thread on my install. It went beautifully. I don’t understand why anyone would want a window u it when these are as affordable, more efficient, quieter, and take up less space. Pioneer units at highseer are your most affordable option...

My Pioneer Ductless Minisplit install is complete.

I was within the 50’ max included freon limit by about 6 feet. However if i were not, i would have only needed to ADD r410a. It is NOT required to draw down and fill from scratch. That would be insane. The install manual gives an amount per foot in grams and oz to add, depending on the added...

With the help of several threads here, i installed a Fujitsu minisplit for the east side of my raised ranch last spring. 24k btu (2 ton)condenser, 18k btu for the living /dining room/kitchen, and 7kbtu for downstairs den and bathroom. I started a thread right when photobucket started their...

Wiring for pool from subpanel in attatched garage?

Hi fellas. Just checking on something. I have a 1971 raised ranch with the attatched 2 car garage on the lower right of the house. My brother in law is an electrician and put in a new square d QO main panel for me to replace the old cutler hammer from 1971. It was old and had no spots left for...

    Opinions on size

What TD said is good advice. Definately 3 ton. Definately 2 heads. I’m gonna go even further. Highseer has a 16 seer 24k btu unit (2 ton) for $968 including install kit (lineset, electrical, passthru etc). I’d buy TWO of them, one for each side. Remember, ductless a/c units work most...

attic cat or green fiber cellulose

I’ll be the odd man out. I blew in 22 bags of pink stuff from HD. The attic foorprint is 20x40. Took my girlfriend feeding the machine in the garage and me blowing in the pink insulation 2.5 hours. I prefered the pink stuff as its less prone to mold, is lighter, and will allow water to pass...

    deburring - copper tubing

Why would you consider using something like synthetic engine oil which is completely unrelated to the hvac industry, when Nylog Blue is a product MADE for lubricating and preventing leaks in flares? How or where do you make the assumption that engine oil will lubricate better than a product...

Pioneer mini-split: happy? wish you'd spent more?

The minisplit Pioneer is not the japanese electronics manufacturer you may be thinking of. Not the speaker and head unit/stereo company. It’s a brand name unrelated to that company. The minisplits are made in china. I read they are just rebranded gree and some other company. Picture a huge hvac...
