1960s Craftsman table saw - what are these accessories?

Yes thats it. Needs to be taken apart and cleaned but thats how it operates. Its also a 9" saw, which I don't think craftman made outside of this series which they only ran for 2-3 years.

Vise company manufacturers directory pre 1970's

Birtman bought Rock Island MFG in 1930. They operated until 1957 when Whirlpool bought them, and vise manufacturing was shut down permanently in 1959. I have seen one whirlpool tag on a vise instead of a birtman electric tag. One ever, posted on here.

1960s Craftsman table saw - what are these accessories?

Yes they do mate together. Could be they're not even for this saw, even though the adjustment knob on the one looks like the knob on the saw, so it looks period correct anyways.

To buy or not to buy Vintage Morgan Chicago 45 vice

That jaw screw will come right out, usually there is some sticking up for a vise grip when you remove the jaw. You did well, Morgan's are high quality.

1960s Craftsman table saw - what are these accessories?

Can anyone tell me what these 2 pieces are? I recently acquired this saw and I can't find their mention anywhere in literature. The saw dates 1961 as far as my research, model 103.22180. Not sure if I'm keeping it yet, like the look, don't like the small table. Thanks for any help!

    Arbor press recommendations.

I am a Famco fan. I agree ratcheting presses are a little nicer. Or if you can find a Famco with a ships wheel, those are great. Current press is a Famco 3 1/2R, also have a 3R that will probably be sold. Once you have one, its a great go to tool in the shop for a lot of jobs.

To the person looking for Rock island 542-bx pipe jaw info, here is what I've got. All 3 jaws look to be identical. The holes I don't believe are factory.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Wood: PM me, I just picked up a 974 1/2 this weekend for parts. Broken dynamic jaw but the swivel base is good! Edit: Just took it apart to inspect. The brake shoes where they go around the pin are both broken and the parts are not still there to weld/braze them. The base, wedge, bolt...

    The Milwaukee Chuck

I don't own any Milwaukee tools (despite living in the Milwaukee area) but we have some at work. Yes, the chuck is garbage, pure garbage. Not impressed and will keep me buying the Blue/green brand with the LXT batteries, among other reasons I'll leave out.

Now my main user on the bench. The swivel base is a doner from a broken 577 I picked up. Jaws were from that vise too, and milled them out for SHCS.

Thanks jeff, doing it again I won't use a gloss paint, but other than that it went well. Here are a few more pics, jaws were pretty worn, surface ground them for a new lease on life as a smooth set. Cap screws are not original, but these off the shelf ones are the correct countersink pitch, so...

Morgan 335 is all done, except for a new handle to be made soon. A post a few pages back reminds me, what was the relationship between Morgan and American Scale? This one is an American Scale rebrand, but Morgan DID make their own swivel jaw vises at one time. I can only assume these rebrands...

    Ladders made in U.S.A.

I went through this a while back. Needed a couple ladders. Found a nice fiberglass Keller USA 10' on Craigs. Needed a 4' and 6'. The big box guys (Louisville and Werner/Keller [Keller is owned by Werner]) are Mexican made. North American is better than Chinese so I own 3 more Werners.

Flatfender - monarch was Prentiss's lighter duty line. Yours probably dates pre 1911, as that's when Prentiss had a patent for replacement jaw inserts. Here is my model 221, 5.5" stationary base. It has P.V.Co cast into it below the spindle, Prentiss vise company.

Fellow Vise Hunters: Milwaukee Morgan Vises are AWESOME!

They must have made 2 different styles, mine is totally different. And I've never seen another one like it. The swivel is on a "turret" and can literally rotate 180 degrees. The turret is pinned in and it has a huge swivel pin. I've got to get it done next week and post up some pics...
