Advise needed on replacing a compressor motor

I think a true 5 HP would be running into its SF rating with a 19 CFM rating? The simplest thing to do is replace with the Century B387 as it will be a direct replacement without any modifications. A true 7.5 HP would take the load just fine, but generally require a mag starter and some...

Advise needed on replacing a compressor motor

A quick Google search shows a Century 6HP 56Y frame: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ATNHSG/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Leeson, Baldor, or WEG motors can usually be found on eBay from motor wholesalers or even sometimes Zoro for reasonable prices. But you are correct, generally the frame size and as...

Just picked up my 1st compressor. Question about CFM and Aircat impacts

You should probably set your regulator around 115 PSI to account for pressure drop across hoses and fittings. If you have a 50' hose set it around 125 PSI. You'd have to put a gauge at the tool to confirm exactly how to set the regulator. The 30 gallon tank is the limiting factor. You'd...

    Compressor question

That's when the tank is full. Does your compressor cut in at 115 PSI? Folks with single stage air compressors that cycle on at 90 PSI would only be getting 65 PSI at the tool using your example. Dual stage compressors eliminate the single-stage problem of tools not having full power as the...

    Compressor question

705 is a 2-stage pump rated for 175 PSI. Normal cycling would be for it to cut in at 140 and cut out at 175. It's possible that the pressure switch died and was replaced with one meant for a single stage air compressor. Air tools are really great running on 2-stage compressors because of the...

    Air compressor check valve question

Normally the check valve would thread directly into the tank. Someone has been in there before.

Old Champion Air Compressor - looking for info

    Snap on ctr767 vs ctr761

I have the short one I would not mind getting the extended version. While the extended version gives you more leverage there are also places it may not be able to reach because it is longer. I would get both.

Where do you guys find 15mm, 18mm, 20mm fasteners?

My Jeeps are held together with primarily 10, 13, 15, 18, and 21 mm fasteners. 15 and 18 show the heaviest wear. I have never needed to use a 20 mm but I have read on here that Kias and some vehicles like that use them on drain plugs.

    Converting fire sprinkler air compressor?

I have owned a couple of Jenny K pump compressors. The K pumps are fine at higher pressures, you can run them up to 125-150 PSI. According to the spec sheet, motor RPM is the same between a fire and non-fire model. You need only change or adjust the pressure switch.

    Impact sockets deburr?

I file mine down as needed. You aren't taking off enough metal to affect strength and as you use them you will find that the fastener end will become shiny metal with no coating. In a humid climate spraying them with gun oil or wiping them down with air tool oil or something like that will...

    Quincy QT-54

Parts will be available. The pump should be Assembled in U.S.A. with parts sourced from China. Even Champion R-series pumps no longer say Made in U.S.A. They say Assembled in U.S.A. About the only ones that are entirely U.S.A. made anymore are Saylor Beall. The compressor is OK if you want...

    Mystery Champion REN-14 Compressor Pump

I'm not exactly sure when the REN-14 was made, but it was a predecessor to the R-15 which was introduced in the late 1960's or early 1970's. The REN-14 is likely late 1950's to early-mid 1960's. It's a 3 or 5 HP pump just like the R-15 today. See picture for specs.

    Snap On hex bit question

There is no difference other than the socket. On the truck this would be warrantied & they would tap the old one out with a punch and hammer and tap the new one in, or put it in a vice. There is a slight interference fit - a shop press is not required. If you don't have a truck, corporate...

    Air Compressor questions

When the compressor shuts off it is supposed to bleed off a small amount of air. This is a feature called unloading so when the compressor starts up again, it is not loaded on the discharge/pressure side. If it continues to bleed down and drain the tank, then you need to clean or replace the...

    When to discard aircompressor tank.

If you were that concerned you could get one of those lighted inspection cameras and put it in the outlet port and look around. Tanks both new and old can be fine, just depends on maintenance. If the pump is worn and putting oil into the tank, that could be a dangerous condition if the wrong...

What size press do I need?

I have the HF 12 ton. I went with it because it takes up less space in my cramped shop and I saw some other Jeep guys have them. It works, but it struggles to do bearings on Dana 44 axle shafts. If you have the space I would go at least 20 ton.

    water seperator WITHOUT filter?

Why do you want one without a filter? The basis of many of these units is a coalescing filter design. The filter helps protect downstream elements, such as the regulator, from tank rust, oil from the compressor which for certain tools is not desirable, pipe scale, and any Teflon or pipe dope...
