    Walker Turner Scroll Saw

I am restoring one of these currently. Found the legs/table for sale and when I went to buy he asked if I wanted the saw too, then tossed a motor in for nothing. As mentioned, very stout machines. Not as convenient as modern ones, but I'm hoping it will be a machine my boys (1.5, 4.5 & 6 yrs...

    Woodworkers vise question

what are people clamping that they need "soft jaws" as if this were a metal/bench vise? a good hardwood is just fine, and will work nicely. "not well thought out" explain that to the thousands upon thousands of woodworkers over the years that thought otherwise.

    Drainage around building

swale yes but add perf pipe around perimeter about 1' below surface, 6" of clean 3/4stone with landscaping fabric over it and soil over that. also ensure your slab is a well above grade on top side, the ground will settle downhill towards shop over time effextively raising grade a bit. my...

Adding insulated room to non-insulated building

no worries of heavy winds/drafts, and ambient temps will be warmer than outside since the room is already indoors... 2x4 insulated walls will be plenty. since the ceiling is hung/supported from above 2x6 will work. is your floor insulated? any plans on keeping feet warm? platon & subfloor...

    What To Insulate?!

having worked in a few un-insulated garages I would argue that point. the OP said this space will be heated only now and then (take edge off, or if working out there) if I wanted to heat a building, and keep it heated I would insulate the walls and ceiling to retain all the heat. but just...

    What To Insulate?!

I didn't check that site, but that can not be right. you can heat all you like, but if your feet are cold it will **** to work in. 2" around the slab, even go down further than the slab if the option is there. 2" between the block & earth too. insulating a foundation in an area that get's...

    Festool Kapex KS60 Mitre Saw

    Dining Table

I'm not a fan of the rough lumber/"crumb catcher seam" look, but to each his own. obviously the skills are there, the finished product should keep the boss happy! hard to tell, are the boards attached just via butterflies? will butterflies be up or down for final table top?

Wood you, Could you with a Mill?

take the box joint blade to someone/place that sharpens blades, ask them if they can return it to original working order. ~$20 and a usable blade again, then use it with a jig set up for it.

    Craftsman (Beach) Tool Chest

I bought this a few years ago, it came full of tools which is what I was after. Never really use this, and it's taking up shop space. Listed locally for $350, but I know someone on here would appreciate it properly, so discount applied. If it doesn't sell it will move into basement, it won't be...

    Woodworking 101--Tools and Tips

I agree with full size saw vs contractor, how you can only fit/afford what you can fit/afford. I have a Rockwell Delta 12/14, a unisaw on steroids. that said, if you are ripping sheet goods, you should try a track saw. I love my table saw, with a slider wing, but for sheet goods a track saw is...

Looking for compressor AND dust collector closet advice

no location stated so, do you heat/cool? if so,you will want return air from the closet (opposed to outside) you want air movement either way to keep machines cooled down if you can divide the space, even with drapes of rubber/etc to keep dust on one side that would be beneficial to compressor...

    Aluminum trailer modification

crazy idea here, but why not just have some 12" wide boards that span the wheel base for occasional use? I read that the additional width is only for if/when loading some sideways. if so, how many? would keeping 8' long 5/4 white oak boards 1' wide available be trouble? predrill bolts to keep...

    Radial arm saw cabinet ideas?

actually that is more due to the quality of the saw being given away, and/or the person using it. '80's Craftsman saws were garbage, but so many out there they are always for sale/free because once moved the user got tired of lost accuracy. Take an old industrial, 12+" blade, turret style or...

    Work Bench Build

depends how tall you are, but reaching for objects near the top of the pegboard 6'+ high and over a cabinet 2' deep won't be easy. score some upper cabinets and have them high for storage/occassional use, have a step stool handy for them. pegboard under them, so you're only reaching upto 6'...

    Basic needs dust collection contraption.

these "****" good, but for woodworkinf they fill quickly, and they only get the larger chips that you can easily see. the fine dusts that you see floating around minutes after cutting, and the particles even smaller than that, are the harmful ones. you need high velocity AND high CFMs to get...

    Basic needs dust collection contraption.

actually a good mask WILL get the harmful dust, and for much less $$, effort, room, noise, etc. however they can be annoying for some, and/or combersome to wear all the time (sweat, vision, talking, etc) myself included as I am saving up for a proper Oneida 2-3hp system and all machines ducted...

Workbench Against Wall vs. Center Worktable

I just removed 9' of workbench, and will remove the remaining 9' in the near future (they met in corner) I do mostly wood working projects in that 1/2 of my 24x34 shop. I have a small cheap workbench/outfeed, but would like to build a better one eventually (this works for now tho) work...

help with wood shop layout please

dust collection? if you are doing as much wood working as it sounds like you plan too, dust collection should be top priority. it will save your health, and keep everything sooo much cleaner. RAS, mitre saw & jointer along a wall (outfeed for jointer onto combo bench for RAS & mitre saw) hard...
