Single zone Mini split for 40x48 barn

They are. What's funny is when people say "Don't use that brand it's ****, use that one instead" and you know they are exactly the same.

    HVAC Filters

MERV 8 is typical and often recommended as, most of the times, improper ducts are already choking the system.

    Whole House/Garage Minisplit Install!

8.5 ton ? My advice as a HVAC contractor: get a load calculation.

    Double flare mini-split line set?

I've never seen a double flare on a mini-split. What brand is it ?

Two air handlers in same room controlled by one remote

Is it a RF remote ? If it's IR, bringing the remote close to the unit you want to control and aiming it directly at it and away from the other unit should do the trick. You can also shield the second unit from the signal with your hand or something.

    Height of mini split head

They recommend 11" off the ceiling ? That's ridiculous (in most applications) ! 5-6" is plenty for regular setups.

    Height of mini split head

Will it be pretty ? No. Will it work just fine, most likely. Why not use a "floor-standing" console ? They work great in applications such as yours. https://www.daikin.com.au/sites/default/files/FVXS-F_002.png

New Dual Head Minisplit System - Question About Running Efficiently

Set the units to the desired room temperature and forget about them. There's no need to overthink it. Most newer units are really efficient.

Senville Leto 24K BTU Install--Line Set Issues (the saga continues)

12" coil ? I never measured the coils we receive but I would say the 5/8", 50' coils of bare copper tubing we get are ~ 24-28" in diameter.

    hvac compressor not turning on?

Not in July, but I've been there in August of 2013 and I remember it being quite hot ! Like I said, a TX thing. :)

    hvac compressor not turning on?

It must be a TX thing, because around here all HVAC businesses that I know of are closed on weekends, including mine. Some but not all will take emergency calls (no heat during winter or a grocery store freezer that quit working, for example. A faulty residential A/C is not an emergency 99% of...

Please help with possible piston orifice issue. Thanks.

Try the .055 piston. If everything else is right, including the charge (which has been weighted in so it must be), it seems like the current piston is oversized.

How long did your mini-split last?

Over 10yo is very common. ~15yo is probably when we do the most replacements. They are fairly easy to clean IMO. Once you get the hang of it and you got the right tools for the job, it's really not that bad !

    Outdoor mini-split unit shutting off

Why would you be low on refrigerant ? You mentionned you pressure tested the system. (Most newer units will show a low pressure/refrigerant leak error code.)

Mini-split recovery to tank, should it be running or no?

That’s not how triple evac works. Also, you don’t measure vacuum in mmHg. I don’t mean to be rude, but I am wondering if you have the knowledge to (properly) work on that mini.

Mini-split recovery to tank, should it be running or no?

Yeah, spring valve = schrader. It’s a French Canadian expression, I let that one slip out. When you are done recovering, just shut the valves at your gauges/machine and slightly untighten the hose at the service port and you’ll see if there is remaining pressure or not, no big deal.

Mini-split recovery to tank, should it be running or no?

If you can’t recover any more, briefly release the spring valve, you’ll quickly see if there is remaining pressure or just a tiny bit left over vapor… no big deal.
