I believe the current Snapon business model of having guys drive around is outdated and archaic. Best thing they could do would be to cut out the drivers and pick a retailer to stock their tools. The pros could stop by in their off hours and shop and it would open up the tools to the average...

I suppose I fall into the camp of people who don't have much use for a stubby ratchet. I had the SK version but found it to be too short to ever allow enough torque to loosen stubborn bolts.

While it will never be original again I am a fan of making it look like it did when it left the factory even if it's not a color that I prefer. That being said, if you like fluorescent yellow, it's your vise so paint it whatever you want.

If you are just using it for general shop work I think a Columbian, Parker or Yost fits the bill and will be cheaper than the Wiltons which people tend to think are are made of gold.

I like the old stuff but have come to terms with the fact that sometimes new is better. Just because it was made yesterday doesn't mean it's better than what is made today.

That's a heck of a find. An anvil like that would go for $3/lb in my neck of the woods. For some reason, there are lots of people collecting anvils now so that has driven the prices way up.

Fair point if you are a pro mechanic and have a relationship with a local Snapon driver. But, Snapon also sells to the average Joe (like myself) and it's not as easy for me to grab the Snapon man when he drives by. That leaves me with having to buy some extra handles to replace those that get...
