    SK roto head ratchets

I have one but I have always been lukewarm on it. Maybe it's time to unload so I can get something I like better.

sears tried to tell me i had to buy a new ratchet because they couldnt fix it?

I don't know why you guys still expect so much out of Sears. We are all tool guys but Sears is not staffed by tool people so what do you expect when you go in there? If you want good service from a company that knows tools and cares about your perspective then put up the cash for snapon or...

    swedish anvil, outrageous appraisal.

Right. But you are forgetting that pretty much every collector assumes that anything made yesterday is better than what is made today. Heck, how many times have people put a premium price on something simply because it was made a long time ago? You could claim that they made King Arthur's...

    swedish anvil, outrageous appraisal.

I have watched the prices of anvils go up lately due to their new status as a collectible. It's not uncommon to find people with 20+ anvils in their collection. What's funny is that when something becomes collectible, value becomes less hard to pin down. I was at an auction bidding on an...

    Snap-On Pricing Increase (Again?)

Frankly, with all of this talk about people sending in rusty tools they found on the road and expecting a free replacement, I am fine if SnapOn does indeed start requiring proof of original purchase in order to warranty tools. It's about the only way to keep costs down these days. The luxury...

    Wilton Bullet Vise Question

If someone cracked it that means it has lived a pretty rough life. Wilton vises are nice but not so nice that even damaged ones should be viewed as being valuable. There are lots out there. Keep looking.

What Snap On 3/8'' Ratchet should I buy?

Do tell. Was it used by Abe Lincoln or something?

    Snap-on Toolboxes - False Security?

Let me first say that I’m not a full-time mechanic but I would still love to have a bright blue Snap-on toolbox in my garage. I can’t really explain it but they appeal to me due to the legacy, etc. I know Snap-on stuff is expensive and, let’s face it, much of it has to simply do with the name...

There's a nice Mini post leg vise on Ebay It may go to the moon

Yowsa! That's how you know the economy is still pretty good. When people are bidding that much for what amounts to an interesting trinket, it's confirmation that our country is sitting pretty.

    Liberty Tool

Nice video and certainly the type of place I'd stop in. But, if I may get philosophical for a moment, something strikes me about the use of tools these days. So many of them are being used by "artisans" and not necessarily full-time practitioners. I think we'll still see a decline in...

All original wilton bullet on ebay

I forgot to mention that Wilton vises are made from a space age material which withstands shock, vibration and all forms of economic downturn and civil unrest. I heard that General Patton was also reported as saying, "the Wilton bullet vise is the greatest battle implement ever devised." OK, I...

All original wilton bullet on ebay

I think the fact that they cost big bucks to buy new has created an allure that they are better. I have several and will admit they do feel a little more crisp than other less refined vises but I agree that they aren't really all that special. Certainly not special enough to warrant the cult...

    5" Jaw Wilton Vise

I guess I am having a hard time understanding why the jaw won't slide out. Generally, as long as you have it unscrewed all the way, a little persuasion is all that is needed to get it out. Is the thing beat up? Could someone have damaged the cylinder thus making it hard to remove?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Recently picked up a couple old Wiltons at a sale. The larger one is a 3" version from 1963, the smaller being the popular 2" baby Wilton from what I think is 1960-something based on the stamp. Both have the same original paint color. Enjoy!!!

    Snapon Ratchets on Sale

Have you read all the threads about the crummy replacement ratchets Sears is handing out these days? I have my fair share of craftsman stuff. But when you hold an F80 in your hands you can tell you are holding a quality piece of equipment. It almost feels like a piece of surgical equipment.

    Snapon Ratchets on Sale

Snapon comes at a premium but it's good stuff and the quality is consistent. Face it, if someone said you could have a 40 year old snapon ratchet or a 40 year old craftsman ratchet for free, you'd choose snapon every time.
