Barn to shop conversion - Removing Gambrel roof and installing gable trusses.

Make an appointment with a local truss company. They'll listen to what you are wanting to do and offer some suggestions with the hope of getting your business. You might ask about attic trusses. Take pictures of what's existing and measurements inside and out. You may want to get some estimates...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Paint Shop

Thanks for posting the test results! I have used Sikkens on two 12x16 sheds. Both had fir board and batten siding. The Sikkens did ok for me but weathered to a much darker color than I was wanting. Sherwin Williams exterior house paint I'm using on my current project seems to be working fine...

Lifting a 2x6 stud wall on a two block high stem wall

Use wall jacks. Use some 2 by hinged bracing to follow your wall up. This can be done before your floor is poured. My brother and I lifted my 12 x48' sheathed wall this way. I don't remember if we used 2 or three jacks. Easy peasy!

Lifting a 2x6 stud wall on a two block high stem wall

You'll want to toe nail (hinge) the two plates together to keep the wall from sliding off the bottom plate as you lift it. A piece of metal strapping can also make this hinge.

Is a fan required by code in a shop bathroom?

I believe if the exhaust exits the wall, it has to be a certain distance from a window. Like Nicks said ask your local code official. Good luck with your project!

    Adding dormer to garage

My shop is 36x48. It has a 10/12 pitch and a shed dormer. The shed dormer is 16' wide. The truss company used a 4 gang girder truss each side of the dormer. This allowed me to have freespan on the first floor. I would suggest a visit to your truss company. Good luck with your project!

    Bathroom pocket or barn door?

A hard NO on the barn door. We had a pocket door on the master bath in our last house, we lived there for 45 years, no problem. My brothers 116 year old house has double pocket doors between the dining room and parlor they still work fine. I would agree with others, installation is critical for...
