    wiss tools

Wiss used to make a fine 5" electricians snips as well. A bit harder to find than Klein or Clauss, but worth it. Kept an edge better, rusted less, tighter blade gap tolerance. Dated info warning!

    Nut stuck in swivel socket

Tough crowd. To Plinker: good for you and your brass punch post. BFH! Air hammers! I am surprised no one mentioned a blow torch. Here is mine: start with a good light. Start after lunch. Have some Bill Evans playing. Invite your Uncle over. The one with all the tools. And...

The Klein Tool addiction thread! :)

Thanks KC. I have a couple Klein sheath knifes, and the GMP one with the thicker handle. Used to use a hook blade too, but I haven't seen that model you have. Looks interesting. Love me a good knife. I work around the water these days.....I like the Spydercos. I used to hit the back of my...

Nice Sam! I haven't used the red knife (with the hoop at the end). Is that a sheath knife?

    German screwdriver comparison

So many good choices. I like the Wera laser tips, and the Vessels. I have one Felo, it is OK. I have the large Wiha precision set. I use PB Swiss bits in my old Mac red handle, and my SO ratcheting. So many good choices. German tools lack attention to detail??? Not in my experience.

    Winter work jackets like Carhartt?

Good point. I own a lot of 2004-2006 Carhartt when I was working in Texas and Eastern Kentucky. I still own most of the.pieces. The pants are done, and the long-sleeve Ts are tired. But I still have my bibs, jackets, thermals, boot socks, snap on hoods, etc. Last year my local Osh had a...

    Winter work jackets like Carhartt?

I would check the COO on any Carhartt purchases. No more for me. Duluth is good, and has decent sales. Where can I try Walls? NVM. Walls.com.

    Stanley acquires Lenox and Irwin

I don't think I do Stuey, but you are entitled to your opinion. Offshoring is exactly what I am talking about. The specifics of this case I took from the OP. The concept is what I am speaking to, and offshoring a reputable brand to maximize profit is a popular business model these days. Like...

    Stanley acquires Lenox and Irwin

True. Just overwhelmingly the norm. Just to be clear....overseas means China. Lowering labor costs is as old as the concept of business. "I bought the same model and the quality isn't like it used to be" Lenox is a top-tier line. I doubt it will be in a year. Just the way it is.

    Tools of Japan

I hope Frank can get it straightened out. I like Frank, and would prefer to buy from his store. I hope Koken supports Frank's tools.

    Stanley acquires Lenox and Irwin

Shame. It seems to be the business model of our day: buy a respected US company, take production overseas, lower quality, keep price high and ride the original rep into the ground. Thanks for the heads up. Another good reason to be on GJ.
