Mounting Baseboard Heater To Plywood Garage Wall

Hi All, As the title suggests, I am going to mount a dimplex LC series baseboard heater to the wall of my garage which is made of plywood. Should I be taking any extra precautions in terms of fire prevention because it will be mounted to a wood wall versus drywall? I was thinking about getting...

    Garage Door Rubbing On Track?

Hi FrankLee, Yes, it is a standard four piece sectional door. That's what I did when I saw it do it, but it got me to thinking what caused it to get that way, and will it do it again. What do you mean by "stem"?

    Garage Door Rubbing On Track?

Hey everyone, I notice that when I open my garage door, the door itself rubs against the metal track/rail on the one side of the door. There appears to be more of a gap on one side versus the other. Am I able to adjust the track somehow? I've had the door in for over a year and just noticed...

    OSB or Sheetrock??

I was told buy our city building dept that I had to have the 5x8 firecode drywall on the wall attached to the house, and they "recommended" that I drywalled the ceiling of the garage. All other walls they told me I could do pretty much what I wanted. Interesting though that they told me the...

    OSB or Sheetrock??

I'm redoing the inside of my garage and with the exception of the ceiling and the wall common to the house (both will be sheetrocked), the rest of the garage will be 5/8 plywood. Overkill, maybe, but, for me, I want walls that will hold up to some abuse where I won't have to patch holes here and...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

Just a quick update, I have a total of 8 new receptacles in the garage, all at around 50 inches to the bottom of the box from the floor so that I can put a sheet of plywood, etc, up against the wall and not cover them (thank you guys for the suggestions!). The lights are on their own breaker...

Input Needed - Finishing Garage Walls/Ceiling

I would definetely aim for semi-gloss - you won't regret it - much brighter and easier to clean, imo.

So I got tired of the hose reel issue...

I've got the same hose reel except I bought the "cart' version. Much better than the other plastic / decorative metal garbage that some retailers sell. Have had it for a couple years now and it works well with 100 feet of contractor grade 5/8 rubber hose.

    Garage Entry Chime

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has an entry chime rigged up so that when anyone would walk into the garage through the main door, the chime would sound. I sometimes leave the main door open while I am doing other things, and would like to know when someone enters the garage. I tried looking...

4 Foot Flourescents Mounted On Garage Wall?

That's good to know - two concerns I had about that idea was that the bulbs would have to be protected by something (cover), and, whether or not I'd be blinded by them while working just below them.

4 Foot Flourescents Mounted On Garage Wall?

Hi Guys, Has anyone heard of / or have any flourescent lights mounted on their walls (not ceiling)? I have one 8' high output light for my garage, and my electrician recommended that I put two smaller 4 footers inside the garage but mounted on the wall. Garage is 10 x 20, and the 8 foot is...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

According to him, it is not acceptable to have that type of "load" when the main feed into the house is only 100amp. He said the heater is "ok" because it would draw much less than the welder would. I guess he does not want me to weld while using the dryer and a/c or something to that affect. I...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

Hi Everyone, Electrician came today: Got a new sub-panel for the garage powered by a 40amp breaker. He installed six new recepticles along the one wall, another one for the compressor on the other wall, and ran the wires for the new motion lights. I sadly cannot have a welder in the garage as...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

Thank you all for your suggestions and input. I have contacted the electrician to remind him of what I want. In addition to my regular list, I have asked him to put a sub-panel in the garage so that all the garage wiring that be directed there, without having to run numerous cables back into...

    Dyson Vacuum review

Nothing beats a good ol' shop vac. When I had my first apartment, I picked up a shop-vac instead of a "regular" household vac. I loved it - the g/f - not so much. But, for $50 it was a steal. Still have it today. Some of those Dyson's retail for over $400 here. No way I will spend that on a vac...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

nate379, Thank you for the suggestions. One thing I am getting him to do is to calculate the load from some of the tools that may be in use at the same time, and see how much they draw. I was thinking 48 inches for the height of the plugs as well. The two I have on the walls are quite low, and...

Am I Forgetting Anything? (Electrician Coming In One Week)

Hi Guys, Electrician will be coming in one week to re-wire my 10x20 attached garage. I am asking him to do the following: 1) Put all garage lights, including garage door opener and exterior motion lights on one breaker. 2) Put all recepticles on one breaker (compressor will have its own...

anyone know of reviews of this Costco workbench/toolbox?

We have one on display at our local Costco - while it does look pretty good, not sure of overall durability - the display model had the door on the far right of the unit come apart (one hinge broke away from its weld on the unit). Probably damaged in shipping.
