I would definetely aim for semi-gloss - you won't regret it - much brighter and easier to clean, imo.

I've got the same hose reel except I bought the "cart' version. Much better than the other plastic / decorative metal garbage that some retailers sell. Have had it for a couple years now and it works well with 100 feet of contractor grade 5/8 rubber hose.
