morning guys. i ended up positioning the dormers in the spot where they would be if they were REAL dormers, which ended up about in the center of the roof. thanks for the help.

no doors to line up. just windows on the gable ends... but im not worried about them lining up. the peak of the dormer roof will definitely be 2'+ lower than the ridge peak. im leaning towards the center of the dormer being centered with the roof vertically (north/south)

no changes, just reassurance of ideas.... i forgot were doing 3x4 windows, so were making the dormers 4' wide not 6' wide. we will probably just center them height-wise on the roof (peak to peak and dormer base to gutter the same length).

hey everyone. a couple quick questions... im having my new garage being done. its 36x48 with an 8/12 pitch roof. i am having 2 false dormers installed later today. i plan on putting them 17'OC from the 50' roof's edges, and 16'OC from eachother. i thought it would be a good idea to make...

room in attic trusses came out nice. 16x48 overall, 8' center height, 5'9" knee wall height, 80psf floors. i was planning on using the wasted space at the ends of the trusses, but with the design it makes it hard.

ya its definitely taller now... the wife went out and said 'shoulda made it deeper!' but i didnt want to clip any more trees since i like em :)

here are the nails they used. based on the nail head surface rust from this row sitting in the torrential rain we've had the last few days, they are bright and not coated nails... so i can pop some hot dipped into the treated plate. they knocked out the 26 trusses in 2hrs with the crane. next...

No problem. I even have some hot dipped 3-in full heads from building another shed a few years ago

walls went up quick saturday. its crazy how tall 12' walls are when youre used to 7-9' ceilings... about to nail down the trusses today weather permitting. just waiting on the crane.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. They installed a tee, and then my ball valve I bought. I actually bought two, one for them to install at the meter, and the other one for me to install before it enters the new garage.

5' it is. i just went out there and thats the height i need to be to keep away from the snow that might build up. keep in mind, 3-4 courses of brick are covered since thats grade. so 5' is perfect. itll give about 2' of wall height on either side of the window
