good input. The barrier is that the contractor is Amish, so hes not so aware of the newest techniques in foundation walls, aside from what he knows. Hes mostly doing pole barns and stick built garages. Ill ask around and see about pricing. thanks for the advice!

good question. by me in NE Ohio, you only see 2 foundations for outbuildings: block walls that are hollow and only filled in the stacks where they have anchor bolts for the top plate, and pole foundations. even with homes, you might see poured but most are block. with monolithic slabs... isnt...

any thoughts on where to put the insulation for keeping out the frost from under the building? based on my previous post, the below pic shows how canadians prevent air infiltration... but wouldnt this interfere with my siding as suggested by my builder, since the siding would cover up the bottom...
