    help with a potentiometer/mv meter

I have an old 1970s pH/millivolt meter. When used as a millivolt meter, it has a measurement range of +to- 400mV. For an experiment, I'd like to modify the meter to a range of +to- 50mV. Is there a way to do that, for you electronics junkies? I do have a wiring schematic of the meter...

    MAC Tools Warranty...

Used Mac's mail in warranty once. Some issues as the replacement ratchet they sent me had a crooked soft grip. I made a post about it here.

Opinion wanted on a Quincy compressor

If it needs a rebuild, what should I look for? I know that the pump should spin freely, **** air, and not have any knocks. Anything else I should look for? Thanks.

Opinion wanted on a Quincy compressor

I'm looking for opinions on this Quincy compressor. It is a model 216. What do you guys think it's worth? If I go look at it, what should I check for to make sure it's rebuildable? Thanks. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/tls/4078913904.html

Opinions requested on Campbell Hausfeld "Commercial" compressors

Hi GJ, I've decided to upgrade my compressor to the biggest mofo possible. I'm a serious D'yer. I want a compressor that'll put out 24 cfm at 90 psi on single phase and have a horizontal tank. My last two compressors have been Campbell Hausfeld and they served me well. I've looked at CH, IR...

What's the opinion of SK tools?

I love S-K. The msrp of most if not all S-K tools is the same or close to the truck brands, but because you can buy them at retailers and wholesalers, discounts are huge. The fit and finish of S-K is well above Craftsman imho and the prices are not too much more if you shop wisely.

Which compressor for home shop, 230v not an option?

BOONEY, Until a year ago, I had no idea what a "quad pole" circuit breaker was. It basically a compact breaker that allows two lines of 220 to be hooked into it instead of one. It allows you to add a breaker without upgrading to a circuit box with more spaces ($$). I removed my old 30 amp...

Which compressor for home shop, 230v not an option?

It's very easy, I was scared to do it myself, but I figured it out. The easiest way is to mount an external plug right below your breaker panel. I'll take some pics of my set-up.

Can't you run a 230V off your dryer circuit?

My first good TQ wrench in years!

I love my PI split beam TQ wrench. The thumbwheel is so much easier to adjust and read as opposed to the clicker. I'll never go back to a clicker.

First Time Poster - New to Forum

Welcome Quidger, I have run both 1/2" and 3/8" hose. Without a doubt, your tools will hit harder with the 1/2" hose. However, I found the 1/2" hose and huge couplers very bulky and hard to fit in tighter spots. If you're working on FWD vehicles, it's all about clearence. Now that I have a...

    Impact Sockets: All the same?

I was recently in the market for 3/8" dr deep metric impacts. If you want USA made, Craftsman is not the best deal. The Craftsman set at my Sears was $60. I bought an S-K set at Tooltopia for $67, but it comes with two more sockets that the Craftsman set skips.

    Costco Arcan 3.5 ton jack

I notice the differences between the Arcan and my dad's 1960's era Montgomery Ward's jack or my friend's Hein Warner. For example, there's a cheesy looking u-joint that connects the drive between the handle and jack cylinder...it's not like my dad's or the Hein Warner, which has two...

Matco 6S rollaway value, "what's it worth"

I've used the search function and read a lot of posts here about used Snap On boxes. People seem to be buying them for 30% off MSRP. I have not seen many posts on the used values of Matco boxes. Keep the suggestions coming.
