My $30 Propane Gas Forge Project!

If you are interested in burner design this is worth the read. I used 3 Jay Hayes burners on my forge build. They work amazingly well. At full burn it puts out roughly 600,000 BTU/hr https://paaba.net/Projects/HSBurner.pdf

My $30 Propane Gas Forge Project!

I think you made out great! Would love a small forge like that. Recommend capping the working end to help protect the kaowool and make sure you have a fire brick in the bottom. Also plugging the back side will help with heat and gas use.

Santa was a cool guy this year. New old stock 14" four jaw chuck. I'm no woodworker but this setup will be great for the small wood projects I have. Lang thread repair set and hose pinch pliers. Hydraulic cable crimper.

    Wanting a plasma table

I've had my Crossfire Pro for a couple years now and have cut thousands of parts on it. It's been rock solid for the most part. Friend of mine has the Crossfire and has had the same results. I understand why and the use of limit switches would be handy on a cnc table but mine have been a huge...

No welding but a little bit of cutting. While at the tractor dealer saw they had some fancy spring style tire chain tensioners for $200. Too rich for this guy but got me thinking... Plasma cut some scrap plate. Box of trampoline springs for $19 delivered. All ready for winter now! Works...

Finished the Bob Heine cart lighting mod. Super happy with it. Picked up two LED strip lights from Menards. Made the mount so I can pivot the lights up or down depending on the needs. Doing an oil change on this Jeep. Usually its pretty dark under the lift, not any more! I think that's...

    My "new" Graymills Clean-O-Matic 300A

You can get everything at Tractor Supply. Not a great photo but you can see how mine is plumbed. Nothing fancy. You can get your solvent from Tractor Supply as well. Once a year when it goes on sale I'll pick up another bucket. Rest of the time keep it topped off with mineral spirts. Crown...

    My "new" Graymills Clean-O-Matic 300A

Great find! I have the same unit and it's a true work horse. Don't over think the motor, I put in the cheapest stock replacement my local shop had 20 years ago and its still working fine. Pumps a crazy amount of fluid. Biggest thing is keep the filter clean! Uncap the other port and install a...

I know I'm late to the party with the TwinGrip pliers but better late than never. And Ullman pick set. More Knipex. Decided to give the Cobra's a try. Not sure if I like them yet but the needle nose and wire strippers are really nice. Pouches in my tool bag were getting ratty so ordered a...

    Anyone do Leatherworking?

Being left handed I always had a hard time finding a CCW holster I liked. So started making my own. It's fun.

    Bending tube steel

Something like a mini-bike frame is just two mirrored hoops. Pretty basic. My process is to write it out list/steps style on a piece of paper. Then mark my bend points along the tube. 1. 18" 30* 2. 29" rotate CW 15* bend 20* 3. 56" rotate CC 35* bend 45* And just go on like that. I use a home...

New SK Indexing Head Body Pin Puller Set

For what it's worth I saw a video the other day where a rep from SK said the tools sold directly from the SK website will continue to be made in the USA. Other sources like Amazon are imported.

That set was the very first thing I ever bought off the Snap On truck at my first mechanic job back in 1991. Two weeks later got the metric set. Still have them, still use them regularly. Pretty sure I paid more than $70 back in 91. Great find!

Nice job! Funny story, when I first learned to make that braid I decided to make a fire poker. Finished the braid handle and excitedly put the other side into the forge to start on the hook. I relearned that day steel doesn't have to be glowing to still be blazing hot. Melted that pattern into...

Gas/Fuel transfer pump what do you guys suggest.

I picked up this one for the wife so she could fill her golf cart easier. Was impressed enough to buy two more. Use them all the time. Super handy. Tera pump has a bunch of different models. I just got the cheap one from the farm store. Tera Pump
