My garage ceiling in progress...not a fun job

I'm in Boston. I put 8" of open cell foam in between the rafters of my 36x23 garage. Heating is done with a mini split and a 240 construction heater when it's really cold. I have 2 fans to circulate air. I'm sure there are other solutions but this has worked well for me. I can work on the cars...

I think your only option is like 73 said - except my only experience is with blown in cellulose, not fiberglass. I just did 4" of open cell in my garage walls, sheetrock, plaster and paint. I'm in Boston. I have a 5000w construction heater that makes it livable and workable even in 0 degree temps.

Heat detectors are required in garages by mass code - they won't let you use smokes.

I have the 20 space version of that in my attached 3 car. It's a fine panel. I would not go bigger than a 40 space. It is hard to wire it up. If you need more you can always hang a sub panel off of it. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

This. It costs the same to build something ugly and poorly designed, as it does to build something awesome and well designed. My guy actually saves me money probably as much as his fee, by designing the thing to be built. Architects can often turn you on to good contractors too.
