I use Cad Standard (http://www.cadstd.com/). The lite version is free but the full version, which adds a couple of notable features, is only $37.50. IMO a competent draftsman could use the pro version to draw full floor plans and work drawings for a house or garage.

That's a ledger board that the new roof hangs from. You can nail it into all the studs in the wall of the existing structure and also I would probably lag bolt it into the studs as well for overkill.
