How much cfm do I really need out of a compressor?

I guess I'm still hoping for the IR while I'm watching my local CL. Really would like to get that IR but I'm thinking it's going to take some time and energy with the girl. Has anyone build a shed outside just for the compressor? I was thinking of mounting it in the yard and running my lines...

    Humbly requesting your critique...

Good find on those cabinets. I'm looking to score something similar myself. Looks like you've got everything pretty well figured out. Just make sure you've got your electrical and air demands met in your project area without tripping over cords. Also, you might find you want more light.

    The Mechanically Declined.....

I've done the oil filler cap thing before. Back in highschool there was a guy with some model Cadillac...can't remember which one. Anyways I was installing new brake lines and he kept honking the horn randomly. Finally I decided I'd just unplug the thing and when he went to honk again he...

    Craigslist Score

When I was stuck in an apartment i painted my valve cover to my XJ on the patio. Just layed out enough stuff to keep the paint contained.

How much cfm do I really need out of a compressor?

The only part she's giving me **** about is if I mount a compressor in the garage she's worried I won't be using it for other projects because I can't move it. I think she's just starting to feel the stress of home buying, she's never asked questions about the garage I have now lol.

How much cfm do I really need out of a compressor?

After talking with her further it's looking like she'd prefer for me to get one compressor that I could live with for a while and upgrade later. Any chance that a semi portable compressor has enough power to run my automotive tools?

How much cfm do I really need out of a compressor?

Thanks guys. Been looking at getting an IR and have yet to really budget things out. We got the house for about $15k less than list so I'm hoping my ol' lady will let me use some of it for stuff like this. Now I've just gotta figure out how to convince her air is worth money.

    Starter Welder

Bigger units are always going to be more useful, that being said I learned on a stick welder and am pretty glad I did. It takes more technique and helped when I moved on to brazing and tig. If it's just going to be a hobby thing for your son a 110v wire welder is going to be the easiest to...

How much cfm do I really need out of a compressor?

I will be moving into a new 2 car garage in a few weeks (and plan and getting some pictures of the new space for you guys) and with the new space it's time to get a compressor. I'll be using it for mostly tools that seem to stay under 10 cfm; impact gun, angle grinder, air hammer, etc...

I'm not extremely familiar with the cosco product your talking about but RaceDeck, Garagetrac, etc. has harley themes. Check out their webiste.

    Racedeck vs. Garagetrac

Thanks ninja. Seems like they don't give out samples anymore, but for the money I'll probably end up with Garagetrac as well.

Trying to decide between Epoxy and Racedeck

mat, the issue is on their website via the video testimonials. It's also been talked about here a lot. The tolerance on the tiles is pretty tight and like mikeyr said since the tiles are off the ground even if a bit makes it under them it will dry up.

    Impact wrench question

I've used one, pretty nice impact, but I'll agree with Marlin on the IR topic.

    Racedeck vs. Garagetrac

Hey guys, been a while since I've been on. Might be moving into a new garage soon and have pretty much decided I'd like a racedeck or garagetrac floor. Anybody know the difference other than weight capabilities? I'm going to be using it mostly for my bikes but I'd still prefer not to have any...

FYI : Harbor Freight Roller Cabinet Sale $339.99

Thanks for the coupon FastEddieG. I just checked my local store and it's still at regular price but not a half bad box for that sale price. I'll have to hold out until it goes on sale.

Cordless battery rebuild? What do you do?

You can buy sub-C sized cells with solder tabs and pretty much rebuild them yourself. We've got the welder here to do them which makes things easier for me :) lol, however holdmybeer is right. SLA's will give you very decent runtime and still remains quite portable if you run your leads right...
