    wait... a chinese tool failing is news? :p went to the flea market on the weekend bought a few things and in there was a diamond brand spirit level. looked ok to the untrained eye, but when tested against my stabila level, it was about as level as an unicycle.

    just like lexus and toyota. you cannot lump the dewalt/black and decker together and call them rebadged. peel back the layers and you will notice the difference.

    Not everyone is a tool person. Hell, i wasnt one until about 6 months ago. Not everyone understands the value and some may even think its junk. It just irks me when people dont think before they post, and being on a forum, the wrong message may be received even when said in good faith.

    lifetime warranty on tools are in my opinion a gimmick. good quality tools dont need a lifetime warranty, they quality speaks louder than the warranty. i have tried to get a tool made by sidchrome (australian made now owned by stanley) and most of the time, the sidchrome people shy away from...

    6 point vs 12 point sockets

    When in doubt get a set of both. That is what i did. Got a set of 12 point in the normal chrome, and another set of 6 point in impact. I find myself using the 6 points alot more when working on my cars (havent rounded off any bolt since i have started to use 6 point sockets on my cars.)

    Recommend a Torque Wrench

    I use an australian deflecting beam torque wrench. easy to use and unlike the sears one, it has a click mechanism. no ratcheting head with can be annoying.

    yup well said. in most cases, the contractor would value those tools at $0 anyway (recovered his cost + interest on the job), anything more than $0 is simply a bonus.

    sure does look like it. also how does one look after leather handles? should they rub some leather conditioner/neatsfoot oil into the handles from time to time to keep it looking great?

    i would buy them but id have to look at them, inspect it carefully, and factor in any consumables (batteries).
