    Harbor Freight/Chinese Tool Deception

I think there is a lot of deceptive labeling and advertising right now and we ought to call them on it. I buy stuff from HF because I enjoy finding their bargains and modifying them to suit my needs; I have a couple tool chests, welder cart, cherry picker, arbor press, sockets, and a few tools...

    Inexpensive vise, and workbench.

I just saw a Bessy 5" multi-purpose vice at a feed store for $90 and I'm sorely tempted to ****** it up for myself even though I don't really need another one and you can never discount what you can sometimes find on CL or yard sales. As for the bench, build it yourself and you will get the...

    HGTV Teaching Bad Practices

I dont have cable but the few times I have seen some of these shows I am always amazed at the people who walk into a reno or house (like on House Hunters) and make an offer with no inspection etc. They base their biggest financial decision on the color of the walls and carpet.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Sometimes a builder gets the form just right and you got it right IMO. I like the simplicity and though I am a fan of bobbers, I even like yours with the front fender. Well done.

I know this is a "no **** Sherlock" deal but just a reminder to carefully check the grounding on your old metal bodied power tools. My old grinder came with the grounding wire through the plug like they used to have so you could ground to an outlet box but it was cut off long ago. Last night I...

    2015 Garage SaleThread

I'm finally having a bit of luck. Today between classes I went to a pawn shop and found this old Black and Decker bench grinder and its a tank. I had them plug it in and its smooth, quiet and the spin down lasts for over a minute. They wanted $30 which is kind of high but I have been looking for...

    2015 Garage SaleThread

I just picked one up myself for $.90; when I did the research on it I found out it was made by the US Separator company out of VT and they made Cream Separators. I'm kind of thinking it was part of the tool kit that came with the old cream separators they sold. I had never heard of bicycle...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thanks, I am going to have to try some of that on my AC-WC. I want to keep the paint and patina but need something to protect it.

Got tired of muscling lug nuts and other fasteners off my tractors and trucks so I picked up this impact wrench today. Already tried it out on a brush hog I am repairing and holy **** I don't know why I didnt buy one sooner.

Stopped in at a garage sale on the way home today and found a SUN inductive timing light that had never been used for $6.00 and a cool miniature pipe wrench that I ened up getting for $.90. Edited to add: First time using photo bucket...how do you resize these things?

Update on my Delta grinder purchase. its going back to Lowes. I ran it for about 10 minutes at low speed and the case got so hot you couldnt touch it and the bearings started squealing. Its too bad because I actually liked the features and heft of the thing.

Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

I looked at both and bought the HF for $19.95. You can't beat it but at my nearest HF they sell out quick so you have to figure out when they come in. I have an older side tray that came with my Huot (bought at a yard sale) and the HF version is every bit as good and its certainly finished better.
