    Welding Helmet Recommendations

    Self propelled lawn mower(s)

I have a Honda powered Toro that came from a former coworker that didn't know that the blade bolt needed to be more than finger tight. That thing is awesome. It starts on one pull, it's smooth as all get out and mows beautifully.

Are the cheaper benchtop "precision" lathes worth it to have around for projects?

The following is my opinion. Any lathe is better than no lathe at all. A clapped out POS or a cheap import is slightly elevated above no lathe at all. For many years all I had was a Craftsman/Atlas it was ok but when I found my South Bend Fourteen I snapped it up. I am, by no means, a tool and...

    Cub Cadet project

I had forgotten all about this thread. Very cool build. Back in the "golden era" there were a handful of people that built some really neat customs. Paul Bell from Louisville built a Hi Clear Cub Cadet. Almost makes me want to get my restored 100 out.......almost.

    Welder cart layout help/ideas.

The only welding related item I struggle to store is helmets(yes, wayyy too many). I hate hanging them by the head gear as I've had it deform them in the past and they are ALWAYS setting somewhere in the way. And this afternoon a coworker dropped off some items for me......yet another brand new...

    Welding red iron steel

No truer words have ever been spoken. I have used Cubitron paper on wood and grinding wheels on steel and 3M has hit a home run.

Condolences to you and your family. I lost a sister very suddenly and it taught me that life is short, live for today.

That’s not a bad thing if you have room and power to run it.

I use Lyons cabinet for my lathe storage. I would use an enormous amount of wall space to store it on a wall.

I used to use a large box of lead and some 3" steel plate to weigh down my Delta Frankenlathe. If I ever had a need I could fill the main body tube of the OneWay with ballast but I doubt I would need to.

Miller 235 Up in Smoke. Need a Suitable Replacement!

Don't get me wrong that is a really nice lathe but when it comes to sanding or some function that needs to turn REALLY slow a Reeves drive just doesn't have the ability. I converted my Chinlee Delta to a VFD and that made it so much more usable. Beautiful pencil! I really like the shape of the...

We went to get in my Forester one night at the mall and someone had left a cow baggie......cow, note, sticker. I promptly took it and was going to leave it on a post in the lot but my GF was sooo excited. Needless to say I couldn't give two schits.

Miller 235 Up in Smoke. Need a Suitable Replacement!

Not to split hairs but that really isn't the case. A 252 will run a 30A spool gun or an Alumipro push pull gun. The Ironman will run a Spoolrunner spool gun. Still a good machine and at a lower cost.

Do you have a wood turning club in your area? If yes, that would be a great source of information and you may be surprised and find someone moving up in lathe size. My first lathe was a Chinlee Delta with a broken Reeves drive. From that experience I would not have another. I have a Nova Comet...
