Belt sander recommendations for occasional / homeowner use?

From what I can see, that's a $300-$400 sander. Not something I can justify for my sporadic, homeowner style usage. Looking a Craigslist hasn't yielded any results, but I haven't hit eBay yet. I'll keep an eye out for a used unit.

Belt sander recommendations for occasional / homeowner use?

Title pretty much sums it up. I've got a couple projects that would be easier with a belt sander, in addition to it's general "handiness". I'm not much of a woodworker, so this would be occasional use. I still need to remodel the bathroom, hang some doors, maybe sanding some circular saw...

    Planer for interior doors?

I'm replacing about a half-dozen interior doors at my house. I'm replacing them with the ~$25 Reliabilt hollow-core molded composite doors from Lowe's. Yeah, I know they're not solid-oak custom made gems, but throw a white coat of paint on them, and they look just fine in my house. This is a...

    Q on painting trim

Are you referring to the Wagner "Power Painter" (which I picture in my first post), or the Wagner HVLP Conversion gun (which I actually purchased from Gleem paint)? I've read very little positive about the "Power Painter" (one time use, splatters, etc), but it seems the reviews of the HVLP gun...

Hansen vs. The New Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Socket Trays

Yeah, the spacing was off for my GearWrench 1/4" wobble impacts as well. The 3/8 and 1/2 set work fine with my impacts, though.

    Q on painting trim

Scott, Any chance you found the threads you reference above? I'm ready to break out the gun and start spraying, but I need to figure out how to get from here (sitting at the table) to there (sprayed trim). I need to figure out air pressure, solvent quantities, and...what else? What...

Hansen vs. The New Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Socket Trays

I've got the exact same situation. 3/8 and 1/2 are fine, 1/4 are tight / sticky on my CMan sockets.

Lowes T8 Low Profile 4' clearance alert

I just called one of my local stores. The store I called does not have any, but another store in town has 5 of them. However, the price showing is $37.02. Any idea on how to get price matches with out of state stores? lol

When do you oil your air tools

My SO dealer specifically stated to NOT use Marvel to oil my air tools. He said it will "gum up" the tools. Of course he said that the SO oil was the best to use, but he also stated that Mac and Matco have good stuff, too. So I don't think he was trying to beat down competitors just to sell...

    Q on painting trim

UPS just dropped off the gun I ordered from Gleem, along with accessories. I won't have a chance to mess with it until next week, but I'm pleased with the prompt shipping and good packaging.

    Q on painting trim

I agree that the trim could have been done with a roller...but I was very impressed with the spray results I witnessed this summer. Besides...I've been wanting a spray gun for a while, and by making it "for the house", I was given the ok by the Boss to use some of the wedding money for the...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Bill, I have no dog in this hunt, but I wanted to say "thank you" for doing this. It's always great to know that there is someone who can offer support when there truly is an error on the store's behalf. As a regular HF shopper, I appreciate having someone here on that can clarify issues from...

    Q on painting trim

Yeah, I've got a bunch of those. I was helping an electrical contractor friend over the summer last year, and I watched some of the local "highly regarded" trim guys. I admit, their work was amazing when done. It looked like the trim was molded into part of the wall. The preached the...

    Drill Doctor

Ironically, I learned of the Drill Doctor through the Machinist / CNC courses I was taking at the local Technical College. The instructor is an old-school retired machinist, and he raved about the Drill Doctor.

    Q on painting trim

Rather than wait here for info on accessories, I just called Gleem. He mentioned the accessories he would recommend (#4 kit, strainers, etc), and mentioned that they should show up as "recommended accessories" when I place the gun in my cart. Sure enough, they did! He offered to take my order...

Out of all the big USA tool companies..why does Cornwell never get discussed here?

I don't know much about Cornwell. I've never seen a truck / tool for sale, though I have managed to "acquire" random Cornwell bits over the years. That video sure made it seem like a big happy family, though! lol

    Q on painting trim

Just waiting to hear if I need to place any "accessories" in my order, and it'll be on it's way. I have the trailer hooked up, and I'm going to pick up the trim shortly!

    Q on painting trim

Scott, Thanks for the link! That looks like a great setup for the trim I need to paint, as well as the doors we need to re-paint as well! Much easier to handle on a small scale than the airless sprayer. I'm somewhat new to the trim side of a remodel. Do I need to order anything else...

Craftsman 14 drawer chest or Harbor Freight 13 drawer chest?

I was in Sears a week or so ago, picking up some tools. I briefly wandered over to the boxes, and started checking them out. This is the first time I've ever inspected Craftsman boxes while having a basic knowledge of roller boxes. I must say, I was AMAZED at the complete **** Craftsman is...
