Ok. So update. I have signed a contract to have the barn rebuilt. I will be re sided, Overhangs added, new roof, walls will be insulated, and the walls and ceiling will get nice bright white metal too. I hate paying people to do things i can do, but after just working on the loft I realize i...

    Down on the farm

Well I went out last night and everything was wet or flash rusted or sitting in a puddle. So I think my first task is going to be new roof/siding. Then insulation, I may just do spray foam if it’s new siding/roof. So I’m looking for a barn Company that services Marysville Ohio /Union County if...

Insulate my ceiling, how would you do it?

There was guy who did this on his brand new barn, his trusses were 8' oc. Also I have read some threads that they just suspend the thing metal right to the underside if the trusses and would span 8'. so hummm

Insulate my ceiling, how would you do it?

How about this idea. What I cut sheets of 1” foam and attach them to the underside of the roof ( the purlins) but in-between the trusses. Then I could come back and spray Foam the sheets and seal them up to the trusses. Then when I replace the roof I don’t have to waist my investment in spray foam.

Insulate my ceiling, how would you do it?

The roof needs to be replaced, and I'm not a fan of not being able to ever replace it if I have a failure.

Insulate my ceiling, how would you do it?

Insulate my ceiling, how would you do it? Here is the info The barn is 30x44 there are 4 trusses and the ends a stick built, that gives me 5 spaces. 44’/5 = 8.8’ oc From what I can see on the photos. The top cord is 2x8 the bottom is 2x6 and the webs are 2x4. My plan was to use joust hangers...

    Down on the farm

I want to build a solar system big enough that while there is still a grid, it can sell power back to the PowerCo. Then after Mad Max becomes a reality I have enough power to run tools and some worldly things. I have priced some setups doing daisy chained inverters and panels and it would give...

    Down on the farm

Thanks, I will say I don’t have some amazing plan that I’m keeping from the GJ peeps. I’m sort of winging it. I have to finish a room off for my son before I do anything big to the barn. As of right now the plan is to make sure I fix the roof leaks and get it warm

    Down on the farm

I though the same thing,I found some other threads about this same topic. On one of them he used joist hangers and ran 2x4's. I was thinking what about running 2x4x16's 4' oc with overlaps and attach them to the bottom of the bottom cord?
