Can I get a safety consult?

Could always pull the cap end of the filler tube, kink it, wire it shut, and then toss a welding blanket over the works. Best case, 5 minutes, and nobody dies. The way it would go for me is I'd break the filler neck trying to get an ancient hose off. Add that to the list of things to...

    Welding Table

Being in AK, I tend to pick vendors based on shipping policy. What is priced best for me may not be priced best for you. Pretty happy with these, which in my case were cheaper than the surplus center link above when considering shipping...

    Welding Leathers

This thread has been great. Reminded me that I wanted to get some decent leathers so I can stop ruining sweatshirts and carhartts. Grinding seems to kill them nearly as fast as spatter for me.

    Worm drive 101

Wow... I guess I should feel thankful for not being protected to death by my government in the US... yet.

    Worm drive 101

Great video... It is amazing what you can do with a Skillsaw. My dad never warmed up to the worm drive, and hence I started out with a direct drive. Worked with a couple carpenters that made me use a worm drive, and were kind enough to show me how to work with it instead of against it. Just...

    Four sided fasteners

Because then you wouldn't have random scratches on the finely finished surfaces surrounding your fasteners.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Don't know much about it, but this one came with a welding table I just bought. American Scale Company #66 "Red Seal".

    New project

As usual, cool project. And nice boat :) Glad to see someone got some of those vises... was out of town for the end of the auction or I would have grabbed at least one.

    Lincoln AC225 vs 210MP

I was the same way (learned TIG first). Took me a long time to get comfortable with MIG.

    Adverse Welding conditions

I once had an office where the desk was fixed in place, and I couldn't stand up on my every whim. It was awful.

Awesome.... I'm also stealing the square idea.

    Free Crane Install

Yes sir... thanks. I think I will end up with screw-down support legs so the rolling end is stationary while in use. I'm getting quite a bit ahead of myself though, as the shop doesn't have a slab or doors or power yet... :)

    Free Crane Install

I have been planning the exact same thing for my shop, only on a somewhat larger scale, and probably without the electric hoist, unless I get really lucky on CL. Do you have any detail shots on the pivot point? Nice execution. I have a feeling you are going to love this thing. Also, you...

    Drilling 1/2" plate steel

Overbuilding a hitch mount Motorcycle carrier

Thanks for bumping this thread - it was a good read. Robert, the haulers are slick - that is the best design I've seen. Your sense of humor is much appreciated. Lots of folks mean well, and they don't know how much the guy on the other end of the line knows about the subject at hand, so...

    A couple goofy projects

Not senility, honesty! Joking, of course. I love FBKS, but don't know if I'm tough enough for the winters. Especially 30 of them. Awesome stuff man. The log/piggy bank is fantastic, just like the others. Do you have any other pictures of it?
