on line (closeouts?) hand tool seller mentioned here?

As I'm a bit new here I'm learning the ropes. I'm not seeking an endorsement or looking to plug any vendors. I'm just trying to jog my addled brain to remember a source I saw mentioned, once investigated and found them a good resource for buying single wrenches, etc. I've just spent a while...

    old power tool manuals

I have a bunch of old, mostly power tool, operator's manuals from the 1950s. Is there an archive somewhere that would like to have them?

I know damn well that I'll never use these but had to have them

Yesterday I lucked into a fellow selling some of his inherited tools and a nice MBC road box. Among the stuff I bought was this set from Williams. Doesn't look like the original owner used them either.

    sold

The last and best of my raised panel USA Craftsman. 1/4" - 1" by 16ths, no skips + 11/32" All others were sold but I kept this set of the nicest or never used thinking I might use them, even bought the nice roll up for 'em. Haven't touched them in a year so guess I won't miss them. All are in...

Water heater anode rod Thoughts on removing

I know conventional wisdom is to have the proper one in place. When installing my water heater my plumber suggested removing it. I have hard ground water from a private well. It is treated with an iron remover and softener in series upstream of the heater. Before predicting early doom for my...

"Water Pump" pliers where does the name come from?

I find them useful for lots of things but have never employed them for anything resembling a water pump of any sort.

    MOPAR slip joint pliers

A pair of plain old 6 1/2" slip joint pliers were in a small lot of hand tools I couldn't resist. When I turned them over I see MOPAR usa Google and a quick lookie here disclosed nothing. Are these part of a trunk tool kit or something else?

Please help ID this tool's maker

J2 circlip pliers Does anyone know this logo? Sorry for crappy photo. Logo appears perhaps to be a stylized H, a man pushing a wheel

    Mystery tool

These were inside of a toolbox that also contained some concrete finishing tools. 12" long and made of 7/16" steel hex stock. There is a swage(?) on one leg of each presumably to prevent it's insertion too deep into something else. I'm guessing them to be some sort of gauging device. What does...

help diagnose a weak cordless impact

I have an 18v Milwaukee 1/2" cordless impact(9079-20) that has never been satisfactory. Milwaukee exchanged the batteries when it was new as it had been on the shelf a long time before my purchase. The fresh batteries improved it some but it never seemed very powerful so it fell into disuse...

    Any oil can collectors here?

I've come into some mid-late 70's? vintage(API SF) cardboard oil "cans". They are still full. Does empty or full have any bearing on collector value? I'd like to find an old service station rack and display them. I'd also like to use the oil.

    Gas cans

Are there any plastic gas "cans" still made without that overly complicated spout?

    refrigeration techs here?

EDIT: 2/15/23 I had forgotten about this thread I started years ago but now wanted to give closure. After consulting various service companies that wanted to send their kids to college on my dime I decided to buy the parts and equipment needed to replace the compressor myself. Attempts to braze...

guidance & design help for floor heat please

Greetings to all! I'm about complete with my workshop and am having trouble getting educated enough in floor heat with hydronics to feel comfortable designing my own system. Tubing is in the slab with a manifold installed. Local contractors I inquire with for completion either want...
