In the market for a sliding table

For those of us without such a beautiful big shop space and budget here is what I used with +/- 1/64” results. I choose to go to the store myself, select the plywood sheets, self load myself into my Ridgeline, then haul them home to my driveway. Working directly off the truck, I position my 8’...

    I've spilled my last quart

Bennylava, being from Texas you must be unfamiliar with winter potholes which show up in new places daily in the spring here in my town. The plastic stick on pocket you linked to would just make a precision launching port for any quart of fluid in any of our vehicles. My containers for fluids...

    Sam’s Club -VS- Costco

Thanks all for your opinions! We appreciate it and will probably let our Sam’s Club membership lapse in July and give a good trial of our local Costco. We dread changing credit cards, but after a sufficient time will do that too.

    Pimping my shop vac

Here is my thread for making a seperate cyclone box that works with any regular shop vac. Its main feature is its small size and storability. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I like the retractable reel idea...

Looks like I might have to invest in some new pliers and cutters! Thanks for that!

    Sam’s Club -VS- Costco

We have been Sam’s Club members since 1991, wow! They have closed the store closest to us many years ago now so each store is a good 1/2 hour away. Two old retired persons don’t need many bulk purchases anymore but we do like the 4% gas rebate with their card. Costco is closer to us and we...

Teaching a New Welder - What Do You Wish You Had Been Shown?

I taught blueprint reading for machine trades adult classes. I always did a segment on welding symbols as I often had welders take my class. Another teacher was teaching welding at night too and we always took a “field trip” down the hall to look at their machinery and any projects they were...

    What's the minimum stud spacing for a 12 x 12 storage shed?

I’m surprised no one has stated the obvious. The minimum stud spacing for a 12 x 12 shed is 12 ft. You’re welcome

Need advise about small lettering for dashboard switches

Danno1, thanks for the link! Now I just need to be schooled how to use them to get a good result.👍

Need advise about small lettering for dashboard switches

Water slides would look vintage. Can these be made on your computer?

Need advise about small lettering for dashboard switches

Wow! 16 excellent replies in one afternoon! Thanks so much everyone. In my minds eye the labels would be like the silkscreened labels inside the glass speedometer of my Chrysler, or similar to the labels inside the three gauge panel of the MG. A rub on label sounds like the one most like these...

Need advise about small lettering for dashboard switches

I could use some help sourcing some small plain font lettering so I could label this row of switches in our 1970 MGB. I don’t want icons and would like the option of black or white text. Some I could make up myself, purchase or stencil could work too. I thought about this as I added a new...

Can gravity fed spray gun be modified to work with HVLP turbine

Not to be a naysayer, but I don’t think unthinned gel coat will spray without orange peel. That said a 3m pps cup system does not guarantee easy cleanup. I have used it with several guns and still had hardened paint after cleaning which came out in my next paint job. The benefit of the PPS cups...

    Polishing out scratching

You’ve done nothing wrong. You need to polish that with a machine of some sort. It is really difficult to get a deep shine by hand. The paint on a toolbox is going to be very soft and to work the cloudiness out you will need the speed of a buffer.

Building a router table, need advise please.

I think if I was going undertake a project like this I would be purchasing multiple routers. The thing that takes so long for me is inserting the router bits, getting the height just perfect and the distance to the fence. If I had multiple stations I could really be productive. I would also be...

    Vacuum Extractor Pump Suggestions?

If you don’t own an air compressor (and why not?) just use a turkey baster. If you do have an air compressor, I’ve really liked my Harbor Freight pneumatic brake bleeder. Useful for that purpose, but also ***** dry other containers quickly and small hose fits in small places. Just be careful...

    Lutherie Tools....

My grandson plays the violin in the Jr. High symphony. He also rides a crowded city bus to get to school. When he first started Jr. High he was dragging his several thousand $$ rental violin to and from three times a week. His parents were worried he might accidentally break it or get it stolen...

Special tools or anything especially helpful for a starting out Toyota Tech.

I agree with KnurledNut’s suggestion of trim tools. Him showing the plastic clip remover/pry bar. I’d add some plastic pry bars. Harbor freight has a good set for removing interior panels, but they work for any prying jobs. Next, since he will probably be working under a lift for the first...

    Quarter Turn Gas Caps

It’s just my hypothesis and observation. I have replaced my fuel cap twice and fuel hoses twice, plus the primer bulb. It seems better when I run the tank empty, compared to in the summer when the tank is fuller when I shut it off cause cleaning off the driveway and sidewalk doesn’t take a full...
