    Quarter Turn Gas Caps

Heat from running the edger is causing the tank to expand. While running, the carburetor handles the built in pressure. When stopped, there is no place for the fuel to go. See what happens if you stop once the tank is empty or near empty. Intentionally position so gas cap is highest point when...

    VEVOR pass/fail

I bought a bench mount buffer. It was a good price, runs smoothly and has good power when digging in to a piece. I used it when buffing and restoring auto trim work. PASS

    Dumb sink plumbing/P trap question

Sometimes when I have a particularly annoying plumbing problem I take photos and measurements. Then in your case I’d take the complete existing drain setup to the pro plumbing only store. I’d then have a discussion with them. Often, the plumbers waiting on parts and multiple counter men will get...

Plumbing! PEX A Expansion Tool (USA Made Dewalt)

When the Mrs and I first got married she often had hard feelings when I spent money, usually on tools. How we solved this was to pay each other a weekly allowance after all the bills were paid. Birthdays and Xmas often consisted of cash presents. Occasionally an advance to be paid back later...

    The right pair of pliers

I’m curious to see where this thread goes as I hate these style clamps too! The first thing I did was to take a screen shot of your clamp to see if I could find the correct “term” for this clamp. Google images called it a single wire spring clamp, or a constant tension clamp. Then I tried to...

0ld Stanley level with Penny in it

Thanks for telling about your levels history. It’s very interesting. I’ve never seen one with a penny in it. We found two old wooden planes in my mother-in-laws house that had the previous (original?) owners names carved into them.

    Power equipment Control Cable Lubrication?

You need a zip lock sandwich bag and a rubber band. Freezer bag has a double zip. Cut a small corner off of one side on the bottom. Insert one end of your cable. Secure tightly by doubling and tripling the rubber band so it doesn’t leak. Fill the bag 1/4 of the way with a light weight oil. Zip...

Fuel tank cleaning (car) tips or tricks?

I used an Eastwood kit for my Avitar 68 Chrysler. My tank was in good shape and I just used swished the various chemicals around and dumped them out. The roof, or top of a tank is where your rust will be. Condensation from water in the gas.

    Are Air Compressors still necessary?

Monday I used mine with an old Sharp spray gun filled with Landau top adhesive to install new headliner fabric in my 13 yr. old Honda. Later this spring I will use it when I continue to repoint our stone retaining walls. I will be using my air chisel with a 12” long chisel to chip out the old...

Air Compressor for the Shop - New or Used, 40/60/80 Gallon?

I made a thread recently on this subject. I think the most informative part is post 30 with the YouTube link for two stage vs single stage. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/25-yr-old-compressor-rebuild-new-pump-or-replace-2026.555988/ And I found this at Menards

Which Icon wrenches set to get?

When changing the timing belt in my Honda Ridgeline I watched many videos about how to do it. One persons video showed the extra long ratcheting wrenches. So I bought them. I don’t think I would have been able to complete the job without them. The cheapest shop estimate for the job was over...

    Laser guided miter saw thoughts

Afinepoint, that saw is the monster they had at the high schools where I used to teach adult education carpentry class. I had 50/50 women and men, and the action of a sliding miter saw was difficult for the students to master. I would lock out the slider action so it was a chop saw that helped...

    Laser guided miter saw thoughts

I also have a 12” Dewalt chop saw. I don’t like sliding ones as they are bigger and heavier. A laser would be a desired improvement for mine along with soft start if it was available to take the “jump” out of starting the blade. It would make it quieter too.
