    Welding helmet question

I use a work light, over my shoulder, and shine it directly on the work area. If it triggers the helmet, adjust the helmets sensitivity accordingly, or move the light back a bit. I have a Miller helmet, and have never have had many issues, but i have the sensitivity set for my bench setup. When...

    Welding helmet question

Don't rely 100% on the arc to illuminate the work piece. Shine some good light on your work area, and you will notice a difference I bet.

Who makes the thinnest 3" cutoff wheels?

Smith and arrow makes a .032 3" wheel. They cut really well. They don't last as long as the thick green 3m ones, but they give a very thin curf, and they make a very nice clean cut.

    Engine hoist suggestions?

Find a used blue bird if you can wait it out a bit. They are made in the USA, easily collapse for storage, can be moved in or out of a truck by one guy. They are $1000 new, but I got mine on CL for $100 and have seen 2 on CL since for $150.

Has snap on tools changed (for better or worse?)

looking at ratchets alone, having examples of every era of snap on ratchet in my collection, in my opinion the current dual 80's are the best they have ever made.

    E bay question

And that is what the current CEO is all about. It was predicted when he was appointed that he would try to turn eBay into a discount venue for retailers, and that's exactly what he is taking steps towards. Bring back Meg Whitman!

My first Snap-On Set (very well used)

The interesting thing about this box is that the "Snap-On Chicago" was made on both sides of the handle. Some have it to the left of the handle, like yours, some to the right. Mine has it on the right of the handle. Nice find, do the sockets have a crosshatch knurled band around the center, or...

    weird snap on tool

So Snapmoms ID wasn't reliable enough that you had to go to a guy who doesn't even specialize in Snap on? Who do you think he went to to get his info?.......

    amazing weave tig welds

To avoid the purple/blue color on a SS weld, you really need a follower cup, or a purge chamber. I know that if I tack something and use the correct post flow and keep the torch on the tack, it wont torn blue/purple. But when running a bead, the torch cant stay on any one area long enough for...

Best tool to cut out a stainless steel sink?

I can't imagine it being 1/16" SS, seems a bit thick for a boats sink, but I could be wrong. SS will wear down cut off wheels quickly, smallmdremel ones will take forever. I'd recommend using a 4.5" grinder and a cut off wheel recommended for SS.
