    Old Snap-On F-70 3/8 Ratchet

Your ratchet was/ is a refrigeration ratchet. It would have had a 1/4" female square drive gear originally as well. The square hole at the end is for breaking lose a male square head valve.

Harbor Freight CEO accused by parents of 'looting' company

That is the record for a sale at auction. Many other pieces of art work have traded hands in private sales for more money. A friend of mine was at the auction for the Picasso in NY a few months ago. He said it was incredible to see the money people were spending. The painting went overseas to a...

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

Another update. I am cutting the actual stock now. Using the slowest speed, the water cooling setup, and increased feed rate has brought the cut time to about 25 minutes. The feed rate really fixed things. I had to add a weight to the front of the saw to give more pressure, but its making...

Snap on MV70 1/4 ratchet... how rare is it?

There is a long version of this that is very rare. Also the long 3/8 version is quite rare. I love these ratchets, they are some of the only later model ones that I have in my collection.

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

I could i guess. I wanted to do it all myself, without relying one someone else, but at this rate of how slow the cutting is, I may have no choice but to outsource the cutting.

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

The largest tooth blade I can find that fits this saw is a 6-10 blade, short of having one made. Im not sure that the saw will have the torque to pull a very coarse blade.

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

Another update.... I put on the new starrett 10-14 bi metal blade, along with the water cycling system, and using a scrap of the 304 2-1/2 x 3/4 stainless set in the vise at a 45 degree angle (which is actually a 3.5" cut). The water flow kept the metal cold, below room temperature. So there is...

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

Well, heres a bit of an update. I got the saw, and the first one had a bent feed adjustment shaft. Got a second one, and using just the blade on it, tried cutting some mild steel, and it cut straight right out of the box. I ordered a bi-metal blade from MC master carr, and tried it on the same...

Farm auction today Nice vise, old Snap On

In the era that these were made, the snap on drive sizes were 9/32, 1/2, 5/8, and 7/8. They came out with 3/8 towards. The end of the 1920's. By the 30s the sizes began to evolve into what we conceder standard today, but notmfully developing into the current lineup as we know until after the mid...

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

Thanks for the input guys. So the chop saw is out. I think i'm going to buy the 4x6 bandsaw, a good USA made bi metal blade, and try that before outsourcing the cutting.

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

I have the material. The metal supply wont do 45 degree cuts, and cannot guarantee perfect cuts, they are just rough cuts.

Which tool to cut 3/4" x 2-1/2" Solid Stainless?

I have a small project where I will need to make a quantity of 24 cuts in 304 stainless steel bar that is solid 3/4" by 2-1/2" stock. I do not have a large band saw, chop saw, or cold saw. I do need decently nice cuts, that are good vertical 90 degrees, so I can weld the 45 degree mitre cuts...

    tig welder

You can but you'll need a way to purge the weld with argon, and you won't have a pedal or hi frequency start. I'd save up and buy a real TIG.
