terminating single mode SC fiber connectors

I second the looking closely at the pulling eye. I bought a cable that came with a pulling eye. It was junk. It fell apart half way through the pull. I was able to piece something together using some of the parts, but next time I'd probably buy a new pulling eye.

terminating single mode SC fiber connectors

Pre-terminated fiber is pretty cheap now. I'd just order a custom length online. or buy slightly longer than you need and loop the extra.

Epoxy did not lay down so great

Is there heat? I did my floor in February, but my barn was heavily insulated and heated. It was a pain, but it came out OK. I did have to work fast. If possible, I'd buff it out to rough up the surface and apply a 3rd coat of epoxy. I think you can do that as long as you don't wait too long...

    What do you regret most?

Sounds like you've already got it covered, but for me it was a bathroom. I have water to the barn, but not sewer. I made the mistake of worrying more about keeping costs down, than usability. I should have paid the extra grand to get all the plumbing stubbed out for a bathroom. My life would...

Well, this *****...'Dear John' Letter from Belkin

I had a similar experience with a fairly expensive standalone internet radio I bought several years ago. My wife wanted it for the kitchen. It worked great for about 2 years. Then I got an email from the manufacturer explaining that the radio would stop functioning because they lost their data...

Can we talk television . . . (streaming)

My boss bought one of these. He mentioned it last week. Back in the day you could drive to Canada and get your cable box/directv modded to get all the channels. It would work for about 6 months, then the cable company would catch up and shut it all down. This will eventually get shut down...

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

Thanks for everyone's input on this. The spa is finally wired, installed, filled, and running nicely.

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

When you say dedicated, do you mean running a home run back to the main panel? Technically this will have its own GFCI off of a subpanel, so the breaker will be dedicated. I'll downgrade the garage to a 30Amp GFCI, which it will never use. The only thing in the garage are LED lights and a few...

moved into new shop - floor weeping oil slowly on hot days. Want to lay down vinyl

Can you do garage tiles? They might be a little sturdier than non-adhesive vinyl. IMHO, it will be next to impossible to clean up that floor and add any kind of roll on coating. If it's soaked into the concrete, it's probably there for good.

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

I considered that, but there's a concrete driveway between the garage and the hot tub location. That was my first choice, but the location is not great. It's too far from the main house.

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

I'm looking at purchasing a Swim Spa. It's basically a large hot tub with an extra pump to allow in-place swimming. This is my wife's idea. I originally said no, until I found out it can be used as a hot tub during the colder months. I'm looking for advice on how to wire the unit. The unit...

    Hot Up Stairs

It was the attic. There was a slight smell for a few days, but not too bad. I covered it pretty quickly anyway because the stuff is not great with UV exposure.

    Hot Up Stairs

4" 0f 100% closed cell spray foam. I'm in the Northeast, so I passed on using any open cell foam. Total cost for 2100 sq ft house with a 12/12 roof was about $9K. Company that did is was primarily commercial, but they do some residential as well. My only complaint is that the installers didn't...

    Hot Up Stairs

I recently finished redoing the attic in my 150 yr old house. Roof is a hip roof, so using regular insulation would have been a challenge. I went with closed cell spray foam. Hired a very highly rated company to do it, because doing it right is critical. The result has been amazing. My...

Shouldnt rat poison be around the outside of the shop? Not in the inside?

I had a neighbor watch my dog a few years ago. My dog was big - over 130 lbs. The neighbor had a box of mouse poison in her garage. My dog and her dog got into it and ate several blocks of it. I had to rush my dog to the emergency vet. They gave him vitamin K to control the bleeding. He was OK...

To sub panel or not to sub panel that is the ?

I guess I'd price the project out both ways and see what the cost difference is. It's probably not much extra work either way. Seems like having a subpanel will add future flexibility even if you don't need it now. I'd also run conduit. Just my opinion.
