Overly thorough review of the California Air Tools 10020C compressor.

I have been looking at one of these or the 20 gallon model. I skimmed through your review, but really lost interest when in the first paragraph I read this "I'm not quite satisfied with the quality of mine, and will likely be returning it..." Though not anything major but lately I don't like...

    Best options for masonry job

It's a "Pay me now or pay me later" case. Do it right get it fixed so you don't have future leaks and more repair bills. If you go to sell in 10 years and an inspection is done and it is a concern you will either reduce your selling price or have it fixed for more. Everything is expensive these...

Possibly wire for smart home, generator backup is a good idea. Think about a plug in the garage for future Electric vehicle whether you want one or not. Built in storage where you can.

Is my age holding me back?

Congrats on beating "C" and your health. Is it that you want to work or financially need to? Either way just go apply see what happens. Is your hair gray? Color it darker, you don't need to put your birth date on the job application, most people are going to know you are older by looking at...

Garage Ceiling Dilemma - Suggestions Needed

The R value between regular 7/16" OSB (range from 0.5 to 0.7) and 5/8" drywall 0.56. So let's say that is a wash between the two. The Radiant Barrier Sheathing is for your roof which is meant to reflect the radiant heat of the sun into the attic. Would it help in the garage maybe but I...

    Garage Door will not close

Have you manually opened and closed the door? See if it is sticking or running into weather stripping? Sounds like you checked everything the eyes, might check the limit screw again. My neighbor was adjusting his and the door would not close, he had the screws all messed up. Took me a bit to...

    To Good be True? Maybe

Where I'm at Eastern Washington big box stores don't carry Zip, not sure the lumber yard does. In the Seattle area zip is $24.22 or $21.80 bulk. Good deal for you.

Tractors and plows and yard equipment, etc....

You need something like this 96" path for mowing, at a cost of $40K. My father in law has a farm in ND has a bout 20 acres in grass, he uses one like this plus a JD 700 series with tag a long mowers at about 12', then another smaller 54" mower. When we visit all 3 mowers going it takes like 4-6...

    Help me build a barndo!!!

Well usually you would place gravel and compact, this should be pretty easy as it is over a slab. Then place the XPS and pour concrete. The idea of the XPS is to break the thermal conduction, so usually XPS on top of gravel. Also do a 12" perimeter XPS will help with heat.

    Help me build a barndo!!!

If you are concerned about the slope of the lot, I would not install a raised wood floor. So either correct the slope issue ( this should be done anyway) either by grading or installing drain pipe around. If you do a concrete fill add an XPS rigid insulation such as Ownes Foamular NGX that will...

GLUE IT!!!! What to glue/what not to glue? Ceiling sheathing? Ceiling drywall? Wall drywall? Sistered floor/ceiling joists?

Yes PL is good but messy. Why add 3/4" plywood to the under side of the vaulted ceiling? It's expensive in both labor and material. Has the roof been designed to support not only the roofing material, snow load, weight of 3/4" Ply and 5/8's sheet rock plus an additional decorative element...

OT: need help with kitchen sink replacement

Do you have room in the cabinets on either side? You can always cut wider to get clips in, but I wouldn't worry about clips, just silicon a drop in sink in place. Have you looked at a drop in cast iron sink? I would not try to fix the Corian, plus that sink is horribly stained time to replace.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Eastern Washington Workshop

That gravel looks really fine you might have a hard time getting much compaction. I usually use 5/8's minus compacts very well. Regardless with too much water and not good drainage and a very heavy forklift you are going to have problems.

How can I insulate an old garage without wrap?

What is the use of the garage, working shop area or car storage? If you went with 3" rigid (R15) held it flush with inside stud, nail sideways or friction fit or spray foam to hold it. That would leave a 1/2" air gap, but at a cost of $124/ 4x8 sheet for R15, that's $3.90 a square foot...
