Any chance of building a 44x60x16 garage for $70,000 with a lot of DIY?

Another thought is 40x60 is a very common pole barn size. Trusses at 40' will be cheaper than 44'. It might not be a lot but save $1000 on trusses and a bit more on roofing next thing you know you have cut 1500-2000. That would still give you 12 - 14 feet for the RV and 26' or less for...

Any chance of building a 44x60x16 garage for $70,000 with a lot of DIY?

Well anything is possible you are at about $26.50/sq ft. Doing that 5 years ago yes very doable. With the price of materials up it is very tough, OSB is around $20/sheet I wrapped my whole shop (3000 sq/ft about five years ago it was around $10. The other factor is labor that has gone up also...

    Is this quote realistic?

Labor and material prices are regional so you will get varied answers. Materials about $200, labor again depends but $125/hr guess 3 hours. I would say it's not out of line, get a permit pulled ?? There is a cost for that. Times they are expensive.

    Bandsaw

That is a nice saw if it's in good shape. New if you can find one it will cost $5500-6500. I would try Ebay but makes it tough if you have to ship. Look on Facebook for local or 200 mile radius, woodworking forums.

Getting a lift.. put the wife on notice!

"Getting a lift.. put the wife on notice!" This is very misleading, I took it as Telling the wife to get a lift ..AKA **** job or she's on notice!

    Horizontal surfaces ie junk collectors

I like to think I'm organized but I'm not, but in all my clutter I know where my stuff is...most of the time. I suffer from the horizontal drop zone, I'm in the process of getting rid of stuff I just don't use or need. It is a struggle for some of us. What is weird is I'm a perfectionist my...

    Service Truck Tool Bin Thieves

You can run a bar that goes vertical or horizontal through truck box and doors. Really what you want is to slow them down. If the truck is parked in spot where someone can use an angle grinder they can cut through the door skin. Here is a lock idea.lock

Building a Pump house shed for a Well?

What is the advantage of having the well head in the pump house? Most wells in my area the head is capped off and if there is a pump house the well is outside. Just run your outlet up through floor in pump house. Makes servicing easier.

    Garage Mezzanine (Concrete question)

"I'd like to plan to be able to put a mezz over the entire floor of the garage." This isn't a mezzanine anymore it seems more like a second floor. Get with the builder or who is drawing up plans might need to beef up exterior posts to hold the floor, and post footings.

Windows with Mutins (Grids) or Not?

Hopefully your wife is on the "Knitting Forum" or some such equivalent of GJ. Where she is getting the public opinion on "muntins" yes or no vote. Otherwise your time here is wasted. LOL I prefer no grids, I don't like looking through them like a cage, but on the right house it does look nice.

Plywood kitchen ceiling questions...(to nail paneling to)

What is the decorative panel thickness? Is it metal or a ply-veneer, coffered ceiling? Max span on 1/2" Plywood is 24" OC. Same for 7/16" OSB. At least from what I see. If the decorative panels will cover the "Plywood" why not just use drywall it is much cheaper.

Well THAT'S not good.. Ever see an AGM battery self destruct?

That is funny "No way it could get damaged". Hey it happens, good detective work on your part to get it solved. Oh by the way I don't think that is going to hold a charge anymore ! )

Recommend a ceiling height for a wood working shop

Ahhh the dreaming and planning phase a good phase. My old wood shop ( double garage) had like a 9'2" ceiling and it was fine but you had to watch the ceiling fan. Current shop which is still in progress is 10'6", much better head room. When spinning a sheet of plywood or 8' lumber no worries...

    Mudding Drywall in "cold" weather

Did you you use fiber tape or paper? When doing inside corners do one side at a time, let it dry and do the other. When filling nail/screw holes fill all holes in a continuous pass, it is faster and when you sand doesn't fuzz the paper. The thing with staggered joints is so seams are less...
