    This is probably the best solution. I doubt that there is a bolt in low voltage motor replacement for this application. Lassen Forge's solution eliminates the need for transformers, VFDs, high voltage and other nonsense.

    Why cut the input shaft off? The gear makes a great handle. I powder coated the gear on this one with nylon in a fluidized bed process.

    I agree with Shiftless. You did a nice job on the jaws. I love the old school hot rod steering wheel on the Bridgeport.

    Care and feeding of a bench vise

    I use Molykote Gn on enclosed pressure screws. Extreme pressure grease will also work. For exposed screws, I use Dupont Chain-Saver. It's a wax lubricant, with teflon. This also works well on the sliding parts.
