A Puzzle To Me, How to Reverse This Motor

The way I read it, the white (line) is on the wrong lug. It should be on 1 not 3.

School me on corded reciprocating saw

The short stroke is typically smaller, lighter, and easier to plunge cut, but won't cut as fast. Dad likes his short stroke Milwaukee that he has been using for 40+ years but the trigger is starting to go. My big long stroke, variable speed, orbital Milwaukee is a beast and I picked it up off...

First time garage door install--help ID these parts? (no instructions)

Those little triangle brackets are for holding on the extra horizontal bracing. At least on my door, there is steel u-channel mounted horizontal from side to side. Instead of mounting thru the channel, the screws are about 1/4" above/below and those little brackets go under the screw and hold...

    Dirty power?

You can call your utility and tell them you have a power quality issue. They "should" come out and check a few things to eliminate themselves from being the issue. If its not them, then you get to call an electrician.

Craftsman 19.2V tools - battery nightmare

I was able to jump start my "big" Dewalt 20v last spring. It was dead and wouldn't take a charge from any of my chargers. It worked great!

Need Help With Underground Wire Markings

Looks like they are all power lines at house voltage(240V). That lid is a secondary hand hole and functions at a junction box. The UG secondary from the street comes into the box and then heads back out to continue to the next house. Your service is shown heading to the house. Typically...

I'm looking for a straight forward dimmer w/ remote

I used the Lutron Caseta dimmer and remotes with LED cans. It was also a good way to another switch location without having to do 3way wiring.

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT The **** Shack

I just finished the whole 50 page story and must say its amazing progress with the house and garage! I have to admit, part of my entertainment was guessing where you work and live. Not as a crazy stalker, but as someone who knows the area. Before moving to NH 3 years ago, we lived in Pleasant...

    Jason's basement build

My initial thought on your water issue, bad surface drainage on the outside. As wet as that block wall is, I am picturizing standing water up against the house.

    Running underground service

In a previous job, I worked for a electric utility in the midwest. Our rule of thumb for a standard service was to have the transformer 200' from the house/meter. Yes, you can go farther, but you will have to use larger conductors to offset the voltage drop. If it was my land, I would put the...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Frank, how far are you willing to drive for a "new unused" 150? I guess you could call it a barn find? This one just popped up on Craigslist south of Boston. Its out of my price range at $400 https://boston.craigslist.org/sob/tls/d/norwell-craftsman-150-drill-press/7272016197.html

    Craftsman Drill Press

Thanks Frank and 11b30b4. Its good to know I didn't waste my money and makes it easier to justify to my boss. ;-) Thru some more research on here, it looks like my missing thumb screw is a 1/4-20 and I think I have a SS SHCS that will make a great temporary replacement. I will keep an eye...

    Craftsman Drill Press

I blame you guys for my recent purchase! :) Wednesday, I picked up a running 100 series for $100 that seems to be in pretty good shape. I have been doing a bit of research on here, but I believe this is what I have: Base tag is 103.23130 = Craftsman 100 from 1948-1955 Slotted head screw = pre...

What Is This Box? Trying to get Access to Fiber

Re: Telecom Pros - What Is This Box? Trying to get Access to Fiber Looks like both boxes are owned by At&t and as far as I know they are only in the communications industry (not power). Probably a fiber line, but I don't know if that is a location that the average homeowner can tie into. It...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Out on Quaker Road

First off, this is a great story/blog. Its taken me about 2 weeks to read it! I have a bunch of comments and probably forgot half, so here goes. The future house looks great and you will always keep making changes to the floorplan. More bathrooms are better with girls in the house...

Garage slab near utility pole guy wire

The yellow/orange guy guard is a liability thing and some utilities enforce it more than others. If little Timmy rides his bike and catches the guy wire in the throat, momma is gonna sue! Ryan

2 month RaceDeck review- my experience thus far

I have only done a quick search, so forgive me if I missed the conversation: is it slick when wet? Like if it was raining and I rode my motorcycle in, would I low side? How about if I came in a little hot? ;-) I have heard of this happening with epoxy painted floors.

    Help me with this equasion

I am pretty sure you, as a property owner, can NOT use a PUE on somebody else's property. That is for utilties that are approved by the city. The same goes for the ROW along a road. You would also be responsible for locating the conductors whenever somebody digs in the vicinity, or all...
