    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Thanks for sharing the sky cam project story and pics. That type of thing is right up my 6 yr old son's alley. I love projects like this, as I believe they build our children's creativity and problem solving skills, making them the garagejournal.com members of tomorrow :) They're fun for dad...

    Old building advice

I think it's awesome. If the price were right, I'd love to work with something like that.

    My humble little garage....

My idea would be for the prepper side of you. Take the 8 cases of water out of the fridge and use that space for other goods/food. Water is good at room temperature :)

radiant heat, what about the edges?

FPSF (frost protected slab/shallow foundation). In a nutshell, foam insulation down from the slab, then out from the slab horizontally, like so: Looked into it for my build, but decided against radiant since I won't be spending long days in the garage. I used radiant in my house and love...

I need a rack to store my wheels and tires

Older post, but if you are concerned with wheels falling from a high-mounted rack, just run a rope, chain or cable through the center of them. hook it to the frame or the wall and you've got backup.

Screws or nails for ceiling OSB

I's say screws if you might ever want/need to pull a panel down. If using nails overhead, I'll usually fire them in in an "x" so they can't back out

    Welding table options

well, here we are 2 months later and I have finally come up with a top for my table. A few weeks ago it dawned on me that an acquaintance of mine owns a scrap yard :bounce: They don't sit on material long, but I made a phone call and within a few hours he was holding a piece of plate aside for...

    Garage whiteboard

I scored a 4x8 sheet of dry-erase board from work when we were redoing some of our conference rooms. I think they have a few more I'll grab, if I can. As of now, the single sheet I have will go on the inside of my garage door (9'x9' slider on barn door tracks). It's right next to where my...

    OT House Plans

I did this very thing 5 years ago (with our first child being born in the 3rd month of construction). It was a monumental task! I did nearly all of the work, but hired a few subs for the things I didn't want to spend time on, such as drywall (hate it) and electrical (can do it to code, but...

    What's on your Garage PC?

My old laptop isn't in its garage home yet, but it will have basic functions for internet, saved manuals, obd scan tool, sketchup perhaps and music.

    Repairing Drywall

Can't the holes be much smaller than 4" when using blown insulation? Too late now, I know, but curious why they had to be 4". I would probably tape if it were me.

    Introducing Jack Olsen...

Sheesh, another thread about Jack Olsen. Can't the mods do something about this!?!?! Maybe a Jack Olsen sticky or something.... put it right beneath the 2 post vs 4 post one. I'm kidding, of course. Congrats Jack!

Putting lift at 45 degree angle in a corner

don't forget about the lift arms when setting up a dummy lift to test with. They may get in the way of an angled approach, in addition to the posts.

What's everyone paying for a bottle of MIG gas?

Can you just call and make the purchase, having him pick it up for you? If there isn't somewhere close by to get it filled, will it be a nuisance to have him bring it back to Airgas for refills each time, too? If so, you might want to save your pennies and get the biggest tank you can, so...

    24x46 Garage/studio

with a little practice you'll be cranking stuff out using sketchup in no time. I do my best work while I'm at work ;) Garage loks great, Curt. I really like the combination of metal, wood and glass. Looking forward to more!
